I know nobody that uses DXF - I never even came across a person in industrial design.

We use STEP!

I have to say I am stunned that after years of asking for better data import Fusion is still the

only application that fails at offering those must have structural tools and functions.

Please, please, please make this work locally

Let me drop a .step into a design, import, and insert without having to upload it to the cloud first

DXF is used extensively in the 2D cutting space: laser, plasma, waterjet cutting.

I do use DXF and many others like me: it's the to-go format for laser cutting. I also use STEP for 3D printing and milling.

You use DXF for 2D work - I am talking about 3D models.

Yes DXF I use for the laser cutter myself. I did a change to the text that was not saved

because I realized after writing that the DXF import is only working for 2D drawings in sketches

and not DXF as a 3D model.

Most of us in the design world have to deal with models from many other software platforms.

Data import/export really really really matters

@cekuhnen I was replying to your statement "I know nobody that uses DXF", now you know one. So, while I understand the request to improve or expand import capabilities I'm totally against dropping DXF because I DO NEED IT and is one reason why I do use Fusion360.

On top of that, nowhere in your initial post you mentioned 3D models, but that might just have slipped away, no problem.

as mentioned I am revering to 3D models - of course do I use DXF for 2d work.

sadly this forum does not allow editing of initial posts so I was not able to corret

it after I noticed the mistake that insert refers only to 2d files.
