Simply put the addins manager as it is now is confusing to non-programmers who simply want an addin that works out of the box without needing any tweeking. If an addin needs tweeking it should allow that in a dialog or command box when it is running. While a programmer would want all the bells and whistles in an addin manager that permit script editing and he should get that. So it might be a good idea to either offer two versions of Fusion: a basic version with an intuitive addin manager and a version for developers which has the same addin manager plus another tab with editing and debugging features.

I love sharing my Ideas, shamelessly sometimes. But, I also like to know where everyone else stands on their Ideas and cheer them on. And help turn it into a discussion to help provide clarity to it if needed and keep the momentum on great ideas. I love the concept of this type of collaborative event and workspace. I would like to remain informed that some other 'genius' contributed to the pool of 'ideas.' I feel it fair to the participants in this community that we enable ourselves to subscribe to an email notification. If the email contained the body, I would be more productive with your email. Hits to your site from this email do not measure your effect, but that of the body of the email. Keep it simple, make it secure and make it happen! Ahem! Not so fast! -Please. I use rhino and fusion, and really could complement marvelously. I'm working and regret not being able draw like rhino with grasshopper (3d sketch whitch a parametric essential system) rhino can work together with Tsplines and Nurvs surfaces. Today I can overlay a pipe design over a spline and bend any way I want... easy. What is not possible is to change the design of the pipe-surface...apparently one can't add material to or remove material from the pipe-model which is present in the fusion 360 "create" function. And if you could... the pipe will no longer bend along a spline. Attached file clarifies the situation. I was trying to model an old classic double helix covered Rebar and overlay this over a spline so I could be bend anyway I want... just like in the "create-a-pipe" function. Why can't we add custom shapes to the "create" function and twist and bend these just like the pipe model. thanks, Piet

Another two part suggestion. 1) Create the option to control the crease in two modes. One as a solid fillet and another as a solid chamfer. 2) Expand on this to be able to create inbetween states between fillets and chamfers and more. I read in the road map for fusion that we are about to get some mesh work space some time in the future. Can I respectfully ask that AD let users that work a lot with laser scanners and other meshing systems use the tools for a few weeks before they are let out into the wild. If the right tool set is in the mesh work space then there will finally be a one stop shop program. The importance of plugging that particular hole in the difference in cad verses scan formats, plus it being available in this licence format is extremely exciting. This sugestion is made in the same spirit as the user group update testing submission.

Hi All, Dec 14, 2015 I am new to the CAD world and have been using Fusion 360 for about two months. The reason I am using Fusion 360 is the 1 year free subscription that is offered to start up users. I am using Fusion 360 to design a new rack for my Toyota Tundra truck. To teach myself how to use Fusion 360 I referred to many YouTube videos that are posted by Fusion 360 evangelists and other advanced users. There is no question the videos are very helpful. However, after going over about 20 videos, it is hard for me to remember where I saw what. If I want to refer back to a video that I watched before, I do not remember which video it was. To remember what I watched I started adding the video links, the Fusion 360 commands and the minute timestamp (MinuteMark) of the video (for a given command) to a table in a word document. By now I have 9 pages of Fusion 360 commands in a table that is attached. If I want to go back to the usage of a command, first I find it in my table and click on the link, and advance the YouTube video to the MinuteMark (shown in first column of my table) to see the usage of that command again. My Suggestion: I am suggesting to add a “Wiki” box to the bottom of the screen right next to the ViewPorts. If a user wants to know what a command does, for example command “Combine”, he should be able to type Combine in Wiki box, and First the following should pop up “MODEL --> MODIFY --> Combine (8/22)”, that tells the user where to find the Combine on the menu. I noticed many times even the advanced users and evangelists did not remember where a certain menu item was. This should help. The pop up should show all available options, for example if I type Mirror in Wiki box, it should pop up the following, Mirror MODEL --> SKETCH --> Mirror (17/22) Mirror Duplicate SCULPT --> SYMMETRY --> Mirror Duplicate (3/6) Mirror Internal SCULPT -->SYMMETRY --> Mirror Internal (1/6) Mirror Symmetry SCULPT --> SYMMETRY --> Box (1/12) Next it should give the user the option to go to YouTube links, something like Youtube Links hot link, If user click on YouTube Links, the links will pop up another screen that has a table of all links and the MinuteMarks for that command. For example if I am looking for Combine, it should pop up, Combine (& Cut) MODEL --> MODIFY --> Combine (8/20) Video Name 25:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPpbaKqTS2c Shape it Up! The number in front of the command, for exmpal Combine (8/22), is the position of that command in the menu. Combine is the 8th item under MODIFY that has 22 items. Since this databank is added in Wiki (and on the cloud), anyone who has the privilege can go to the Wiki and add (correct or delete) information for a given command or menu item. Creating in 3D it would be easyer, for bat eyes to see , how measures shows in the proces.Instaed of counting squares and restart in a bigger scale, when passing the frontiers. It's stupid..but helping at the end: drawings to get stuck with suprises in measures.. Sill..I'm learning from 0. Maybe I mist something. Thanks

would be pretty awesome of the crease command could auto apply full crease to edges where the faces meet at a certain user defined angle. currently you have to select all loops by hand and crease. raw mesh: raw TS result - note all soft edges

I request the implementation of the "solid model workspace rectangular pattern tool" into the "sculpt workspace". This will be handy in situations where we want to make a rectangular or straight-line array of objects that are intended to be placed exactly side-by-side and then vertex-welded together to create a large pattern. In such a situation the calculation of duplicating by means of copy-paste and then shifting a large array of T-spline objects will be very tedious and prohibits experimentation with different ideas. Using the solid modeling or patch workspace rectangular pattern tools will not be possible here because the pattern objects will not be T-splines anymore and will not be vertex-welded together in sculpt mode! I think carrying over the same great array tool we use in model workspace to the sculpt mode should be an easy task but it can give Fusion 360 a lot of extra sculpting power!

I'd almost bet I'm missing something because this seems so obvious but I often find myself wanting to do something like taking two perpendicular cross-sections and building a smooth body.. but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do that starting with something like this About the best / simplest thing I can do is to split those two cross-sections then loft all around and make a closed body but I have no control over the tangency so I end up with something like which seems very unnatural. Even if I don't play with the handles on a spline loop, I get something much more reasonable [cross sectional comparision] Now I know that I can go through and make a bunch of cross-sections and do traditional lofting but that takes something that feels like it should be doable in 5 minutes and makes a big project of it and it litters the design with construction planes and sketches. It'd be great just to be able to loft using one cross section along the long axis and then the two perpendicular cross sections as rails but when I try that it tells me that the body would intersect itself.

Really missing an easy way to change selection filters/modes. As an Inventor User (yup...I said it), I'm really missing Shift+Right-Click as a quick way to toggle/adjust my selection mode. It seems even more important to have an easy way to do this now that I find myself switching and working back-and-fourth between the workspaces. And even more, more, more important since there are so many more entities to filter by!! Very possible I'm missing something. Please tell me I'm missing something. What's the easy way to accomplish this? Maybe a way to capture selection mode "States" that can toggle when you switch workspaces? If there isn't currently an easy method, please add this to the list of requests. Crazy-Making to have to keep traversing the flyout structure for every filter/mode change for every combination in every workspace... Best, Brian

Deja (Stinkin') Vu Is it just me or am I the only one having flashbacks of the days when Inventor was still in its "Rubicon" stage?... Many of my posts from that time could be "CTL-C" ---> "CTL-V" 'd here in the f360 forums... er.. "Idea Station" And many of the Inventor "early days" posts could have been "CTL-C" ---> "CTL-V" 'd from the (even earlier) days of Mechanical Desktop development (yup... I said it... MDT). There must be an easier way. Let's hear from that still small voice in the wilderness that I know must still be there... hidden somewhere in a dark cube inside the Autodesk "SkunkWorks". The ones that have been here (many times) before... the ones that know what we need from this amazing new cloud-based technology!! C'mon boys!! BRING IT!. Your voice counts!!! I encourage you... Implore you!!... Empower you!! LET YOURSELVES BE HEARD!! Don't be afraid. Your "Street Cred" might be a bit dusty, gray, balding, beer bellied... But it still counts for something. Work with this new breed, with these crazy kids and their (amazingly valuable) wacky ideas! Their “Insane” ideas... Temper it, embrace it! Fire this f360 thing up with some Old Skool (dare I say "OG"?) knowledge and flare!! Get loud!... Go out on a limb. Press for what you _know_ is needed. Spend some of that political capital... In a related subject (my final on the 'face' command) it's annoying when your faces come out twisted! With an edge pre-selected, there's 50% chance I'll guess the vertex order wrong, ending up with a twisted and wrong face... Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? I'd like to suggest that the default is to reorder the vertices so as to define a 3D face that that projects to a quadrilateral. That's because we design usually with a view that's more or less orthogonal to the face we're creating. I don't want to be constrainted to thinking about my vertex order! Of course, an option must be provided to obtain the current behavior, in some 3D cases you'd want to construct a twisted quad.

When outlining say the hull of a ship, I find myself spending too much effort in defining the triangular faces that result from a curve that cuts across the basic grid structure to define the bow. So why can't I use the 'face' command to easily make these? It's seven clicks using the "multiple sides" mode of the 'face' command. (Also, "insert point" or "insert edge" do not allow me to complete a triangle over a concavity.) In these situations, in the normal quadrilateral mode, if I click the fourth-vertex onto the place of the first, I get into a situation that would confuse any beginner: a degenerate quad! It looks just like a triangle. Why would anyone make such a thing? And why's there no warning?

ALT-1 and ALT3 work fine I guess, but I like to swap between the two often when using tsplines. I don't think the Tilde key is being used for anything at the moment (I could be wrong!) but it would be super sweet if the ` tilde key swapped between box and smooth mode for really quick editing! Combined with my other idea for a locking triad, I think it could make tsplines environment much quicker and agile when modelling.

Currently if you are moving entities you have to click on the entity, hover on the triad direction you want it to move, and then click and drag. This is cumbersome when you are making a lot of fine edits, which is what the tspline environment really is! I suggest that Fusion add the ability to LOCK the TRIAD allowing users to very quickly click&drag their points/edges/faces around to get the shape that they are looking for! 1-have edit face fully enter the sculpting environment allowing for restructuring of how the tspline is built. 2-keep the original tspline information (it would be a part of the body) so when going back to edit the same face you would be editing the same tspline, not a re-generated one.

Wow...creating and then editing offset planes seems to be harder than it should be when dealing with non-planar BRep bodies. My suggestion: When one says "create an offset plane" and clicks on a non-planar BRep face, do some averaging or some other magic to create a plane that is at a "similar" angle to the face...or maybe along the averaged normals of that face within a set distance/diameter or something. Right now, I can't even click on the face at all. I see you have dynamically updating planes from the "plane along path" command...it would be awesome to click-drag my mouse along a BRep face and see a constantly tilting offset plane changing around, and then allow me to settle on one I like. In my workflow, I need to inspect cross-sections in great detail. But the manipulator will often be nowhere to be found! And when I find it, I'll be zoomed out so much that I can't see my design! Apparently the manipulator is bound to the origin of the component that contains the original construction plane involved (?). I suggest that the manipulator appear on the section plane itself. Or is this just a feature that I have misunderstood? Also, perhaps as a bonus, while you're at it, please add a trivial way to flip the normal of the view. (Yes, I know that I can tilt the plane by 180°, but that is somewhat cumbersome.)

Fusion should also allow you to export directly from Brep or TS into OBJ. Reasons: Faster workflow. Currently I need to convert TS to BRep to Mesh to export - way to much to do. Flexebility / compatiblity: TS in Fusion is somewhat less powerful than Modo/Blender but the beauty is to have both to work with (start in Fusion push to Modo/Blender for detailed work, bring back into TS Fusion) Exporting TS models into OBJ is also superior for rendering because Blender/Modo can use OBJ and subdiv to generate matching render models without meshing / heavily tesselating Breps!!!

Too many commands are scattered all over the interface and follow not logic. The convert button should always present you the option to convert Mesh to TS Mesh to BRep I really do not want to have to switch to the Patch mode just to be able to convert mesh to TS. Convert in Patch mode turns Mesh into TS, why makes no sense, I am in Patch mode. Convert in Sculpt mode turns Mesh into TS, makes sense I am in Sculpt Mode. So If I click on a mesh in Browser or RMB click on a mesh in the 3D view should also be the same options to convert. Currently only Patch main menu gives me the option to convert Mesh to Brep. RMB in Browser only gives me Convert to TS option. Convert should also include BRep to Mesh, when I select a BRep surface.

You can select a mesh and then hit convert to TS But you cannot select convert to TS and then select the mesh. Both options should work because ofther wise a user could think the mesh cannot be selected to convert. Also from a logical standpoint there is no reason why after selecting convert to TS command I should not be able to select the mesh to convert to TS. It looks like Fusion has problems with NGONs a lot. This is a pretty simple model, a cylinder like shape with an NGON cap. It seems that I need to further create a planar insert geometry to stabalize the surface flow and then cap the opening. Otherwise Fusion works quite a long time on the OBJ to TS conversion and procuses also bad geometry. Here are the Fusion results: NGON is filled with crazy subdivisions and turned into triangles I would need to remove the edges to rebuild the ngon you dont want to have to open the file and patch in a filler.

Hi there, I just noticed that when you swap out the TS mesh most of the design features will work like move and split surface. Just commands like Fillet break. Currently there is only a clear symetry command which removes the function by applying/baking it. However not always do you want to apply the new geometry. Sometimes you also just want to turn visibility off so you can look into the object/product. And when investigated anough you want to turn visibility on again. So the clear symetry function should have the folllowing options: Apply (currently implemented) Remove (result is origninal half model) Hide/Show (temp turn off/on)

Hi Folks, The object browser lists in object mode the result of the design time line and the timeline shows you the different steps you took. But when you enter edit mode for one TS object it can get very annoying that all TS meshes and OBJ inputs are shown. Hi there, the previous workflow of: import obj convert to TS convert to BRep can be useful for a single object but is very annying when working with many objects the last beta had a workflow where you import the obj mesh and when leaving the TS mode it auto converted it to BRep That was perfect please keep it.

I understand that importing geometry is a popular request. I also understand that the status is now "Implemented" Still I have to ask where is the add or Import button? Here are some thoughts and observations on the subject: Drag and Drop in the Dashboard Note when I tried the drag and drop function it works for the initial establishment of a file but when I tried to add a surface into an existing file I get a crash document. Drag and drop should work while the file is open as the workflow needs to accommodate all potential outside geometries. Import button The default should be to all available file types with easy filter for type. It would be awesome to be able to parametrically connect imported bodies to a folder where as if the imported body is developed further by other when the FUSION files is opened it re-imports this updated / changed file.

I was not able to figure out how to extrude an edge in sketch. My fault was I did not read the tool tip help text. However fusion organized poly tools in an odd way. Extrude loft etc should be grouped with bridge subdivide ect. All those command create geometry. Further extrude should be applied not only to a face but also to an edge and vertex. In blender e just extrudes geometry no matter what I have selected.

Every polygon modeler that knows the value of fluid edge creasing will miss this feature in T-Splines. Variable values for the creasing amount allow me to quickly explore certain edge rounding styles without having to commite to inserting actuall loop cuts which will only increase the model mesh needlessly. Here is a screenshot from a game car I created as a demo piece for my students to show them an efficient workflow to explore certain body styling directions rapidly just with edge creasings. The only way to get this body shell into Fusion would be to bake a high res mesh in Blender (the subdivision surface option allows 6 levels of refinement) however the higher the mesh res the better the details get baked but the less Fusion will be able to convert the OBJ mesh into T-Splines. This shouldn't be possible, right? Make a duplicate of a sketch ('copy' from earlier sketch's right-click menu, 'paste' on 'Sketches' right click menu). Expected: - the name should be something like "Holder down 2" (different from the previous name, and unique among all the sketches in this level) Actual: - one can have duplicate names (in fact, it's the default) This feels unlike other areas of Fusion 360, where numbers are given to pasted / duplicated entries. Also, I would like to know the overall naming strategy within Fusion 360. It can be either: - Names don't matter. Duplicate names are fine and it's the user's thing to keep clear of duplicate names (if she wants). - Names should be globally unique. Pasting or importing any object with overlapping names will change those names to something unique. - Names should be unique within a hierarchy (similar to scopes in programming languages). Pasting an object with a duplicate name (in that hierarchy) will cause the name to be changed to something unique. - Something else / not defined / just happens to be the way it is? In other words, has someone considered this.

Just as a general guideline for how the app should behave. Automatic behavior (snaps, setting boolean operation (join/cut/intersect/new), etc.) is great but if the user takes some action (manually entering a distance in sketch; setting extrude to join bodies; etc), that should always take precedence over the automatic behavior.

A simple way to expose all design functions to a scripting language (I like Ruby myself, but Python or any other would do). I find that there are lots of things that I do that are detailed, repetitive, and seem like they could easily be automated. Would be very cool if there were a simple way to add new features and exchange them with other users on the team or in the community.

At present Fusion 360 SCULPT is constrained by its tools. As a result the models that are being produced tend to look like balloon art rather than the sophisticated forms the market demands. The solution resides in the quick intuitive and simple movement of points, lines and surface patches. So what is meant by “simple movement”? At present we can move scale and slide geometry but many transform moves are not possible. I need to be able to move any selected geometry in any direction or to any spot desired. I need a transform tool that allows me to SEPARATLY invoke the movement of point lines and surface patches in the following directions: Orthogonal World space. Like the current tool move or scale along XYZ axis in model world space. Where you move to is also selectable. For instance you hit a hot key to SNAP to Grid Other geometry Construction planes Orthogonal Local space. Like the current tool move or scale along XYZ axis construction plane Local space Orthogonal normal to Screen View. Again like the current tools but XYZ are normal to the particular view at the screen at the moment. Transform along surface AKA Slide. Need a hot key invoked transform that give the choice of movement in: U or V in up or down directions Scale from a set-able point. This might be the basis for a Falloff function where transforms are selected from a choice of concentric rings around the aforementioned set-able point. Depending on which ring you selected and at what ”clocked” point would determine the falloff effect. Free form movement along surface in the direction of the mouse drag Perpendicular to surface. So again the same tool moves points, lines or surface patches perpendicular to the normal surface. Note that this is kind of like the bevel tool but without adding geometry. It would be nice if adding geometry (like bevel) could be a choice (hot key) when this tool is being used. Got to get back to work so more later.

It's quite a time saver to be able to drag a selection fence over an entire plane of geometry and delete without having to orbit and delete for each plane. The ability to control when this occurs via a simple toggle (either via a checkbox in the preferences, a keyboard shortcut or even a momentary hotkey) would mesh nicely with my typical workflow.
