I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but Fusion did an excellent job with allowing users to create their own shortcut keys. The ability to be able to assign shortcuts to the view cube would be great! Even if they were assigned by Fusion itself. Though I think everyone with past experiences with other programs may all have different preferences as to which keys they would prefer to have assigned to each view such as ctrl or alt+1 for top, ctrl/alt+2 for front, etc. Show More

We can’t measure center to center or quadrant to quadrant of a cylindrical body or hole without creating construction features we don’t otherwise need.    The measure tool should provide snaps to: arc/circle center points curve/edge midpoints Arc circle, quadrant points Cylinder/cone axis Sphere centerpoint As an illustration of this problem, say I need to measure the center to center distance and the overall length on this simple part.    This kind of thing would be a very common activity for me.  In other systems, this would be a two click operation, in Fusion it would involve multiple steps- including creating construction elements or sketches I don't otherwise need and that clutter the interface- and a real interruption to the workflow. I can't get the measure tool to select the appropriate points. The Joints tool can find these things- why not Measure?    This is not so much of an issue if you are working in parametric, sketch driving designs, as you could just measure the sketch. Hi,   Every update of Fusion 360 creates an icon on my desktop, I would like to have an option to not get the start icon installed with every single update.   I have a clean desktop (just 3 icons, that's it), I'm the opposite of the guys having 100ds of icons as I hate to search for an application start icon. I even don't know, why it is created when an update is installed, if the icon is there - OK, if not the user has reasons (like me) to have it somewhere else, but not on the desktop.   I do understand that with a new installation, but not for an update (as long as path's or start-parameters did not change) it does not make sense.   - alfred - Show More

At this current date, it is only possible to move a single file to a new location at a time. It is therefore too time consuming to reorganize big projects, as I sometimes do. It would be very nice if user could create python functions using scripts API and expose them to be used as parameters with input.   For example, suppose there are two user defined parameters, Parameter1 = "100mm" Parameter2 = "custom_function(Parameter1)"   custom_function would be run every time Parameter2 expression needs to be evaluated. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I could not find it.   It would be really nice is Fusion gave a kind little hint that you might not have the right active component (selected component) in the Browser.   I still find myself adding bodies and sketches to the top level, or wrong, component because I forgot to select the right sub-component. This is totally my fault, but the tool could detect hints of my poor behavior and give me a gentle reminder that I might not want to be doing what I doing.    The reminder should not require any user response.    Apologies if this is on the list.   Show More

Please add the following features to the text in sketching   1) make them objects that can use and retain user parameters.  The current implementation allows you to use parameters, but only by value.   2) Don't change the text size if the user manually specifies it.  Endless loops seem to be created while working around the absence of feature request #4.   3) When dimensions and points are added to text box, allow those constraints to be retained after editing text size, font, value, etc.  Currently points that are put on a text box will loose reference to that text box on editing the text.   4) Allow users to create, in addition to the horizontal tex:    a) Word Wrapped Text    b) Text along an arc    c) Text along a path (bonus points for this one)     5) Improve user ability to select text that has been extruded while using the CAM Engrave operation.  Selecting all the contour lines of the text can become very tedious and performance degradation occurs when selecting many of these text contours.   Show More

In HSMWorks, you can drag and drop a tool from one operation to another, and have the toolpath updated to use the new tool. It's incredibly handy, and it's absence in Fusion made re-assigning and cleaning up my tool library fairly painful.   I'd love to see this added to fusion, and think users would greatly appreciate it.   In addition, a thing that isn't possible in either, but i'd love to see.. The Tool Library does a great job of presenting an overview of tools and the operations which use them. It'd be awesome if we could drag and drop operations within that UI to reassign the tool being used. Show More

I am pretty sure that this feature is not on fusion 360.   My idea is to allow users to work on more than one item at a time if the user as more that one display.   For example - if a user has 3 displays, and they are making an f1 car. They could be working on the front wings on one display, rear wings on another and the main body on the third display. Show More

Although the Fusion 360 new UI looks really great and I appreciate all the work being done in creating the concept and designing and developing it, but I find it a little confusing. The reason is that the tabs are not sufficiently distinguishable in my opinion. Hi Community, hi Autodesk,   coming from Inventor i really like Fusion and most of its concepts and i wish Inventor had some of them implemented.   Having said that, there is one key element that i am missing in Fusion. Mates. While Jointing is ok-ish most of the time, some times faster some times slower, it is unbearable for more complex parts to joint them properly without measuring beforehand or creating support sketches to even be able to somehow joint them.   Take this file for example    Assemble those very simple and often used components is no fun at all using Joints. Basically you have to create support sketches on the corner bracket (better on both to eliminate the measuring) to assemble this correctly. Using Mates, this job is precisely done in a blink of an eye. Sure, it needs three clicks and constraints but this is alone is so much faster than using those snap points cause you can hit the surfaces much quicker and with less hassle than hitting those snap points(with ctrl held down).   Im not saying that the concept of Joints is bad or anything, both mating and jointing have their advantages and disadvantages and certainly their place and fanboys, but not being able to choose surely isnt a smart move.   Long story short/TLDR   Please give us mating in Fusion so we can decide when to use which tool to do the work more effectivly and faster.    Thank you for your time   Sorry for the subpar english, not my native language.       Show More

I'd like to customize and add the automation functionality of Autodesk.   I'd like to drive this automation by my own input - keyboard presses, input from Nuimo or other things. I propose adding Phi (approx 1.618) as a constant to use in parameters.   The number crops up as a ratio frequently in nature, and in ISO standards (such as height to width ratios of A4 paper), as well as in design as the ratio of height and width are visually pleasing and hence why it is called the "golden ratio".   Phi can be calculated by the equation Phi = (1+sqrt(5))/2 however, having to add this as a user parameter is annoying to the workflow when used across multiple designs. A cursory search, and it turns up in several YouTube videos for Fusion 360 (including NYC-CNC), as well as in comments in the IdeaStation too, so I suspect there is some desire and I suspect Phi is a far more useful as a constant than the function random() is to designers. navigating a large assembly in fusion 360 is a hassle! Especially if you have many components at a given level.  One solution would be to add folders or tags to every item in the browser (canvases, sketches, bodies, components,)  The folders/tags would have no effect on the structure of the model, but just a way to logically condense its view in the browser to permit people to navigate complex assemblies.  For example, on might put all fasteners into a folder and all brackets into another one.  Ideally the user could change between a folder view and the current display method easily.    One way to accomplish this might be with tags, for example, you could tag all fasteners with a "fasteners" tag and then view items grouped by tag.  This could also permit searching based on tags.    Also, inevitably someone will say that you simply need to use components and that they provide the compartmentalization needed to view a large assembly with ease. However this assumes that all models have a natural hierarchical structure that can be logically grouped into components and subcomponents, however this is not always the case. Some have a very flat sturcture, with multiple variants of the product on the same level with no logical component/subcomponent structure.  Additionally, since moving things from one component to another or up a level isn't seamless, this means that unless you START the project with the perfect structure, you will never be able to edit it afterward to correct it.   Browser usability is an issue, please see other browser usability issues below. I would like to be able to design a mechanism to be spring loaded.. I have tested rest position and to drag away the component behind another component having them on contact set. I was thinking I could get the first component to stay behind the second and dont be able to get back to its rest position until I remove the second component..   If there is another way to do What im trying to do I haven't found it.. It would be rally helpful to test mechanisms.   Here is a test model I did to test the above.. I can drag the piston down under the pin and as long as I dont releas the mous button I cant get it back up, But I would like it to stay untill I remove the pin. There have been several posts about this in the past, but I am bringing it up again because it looks like the post with the most traction from @cekuhnen (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation/export-parasolid-fusion-360/idi-p/5801566) was updated to "Accepted" but there has still been no update.  And it has been years since the original post.  Other posts fell short, or only requested the ability to import via "new design from file", etc.   Let's get Parasolid export options (*.x_t and *.x_b).  I ran in to an issue today where I received an .f3d file and STEP from a colleague of a PCB component.  I sent the STEP file along to another colleague working with SolidWorks.  Many of the previous posts on this topic point out that STEP and IGES are more universal so therefore more useful than parasolid.  However, when opening the STEP file in SolidWorks, my colleague informed me of errant bodies and faces with incorrect orientations.  This has happened to me in the past as well.  They prefer, when available, parasolid formats as they tend to work the best for their software.   Seeing as how Fusion 360 can import Parasolid (it would be nice if this could be done using the simpler "new design from file" option rather than the upload-then-import method, but at least it works) I see no reason why we can't export to Parasolid (*.x_t, *.x_b).  I believe parasolid is the basis of the modeling environment in SolidWorks.  Other basis file types for the other major CAD packages would be nice as well, but I seem to run into vendors requesting parasolid specifically more often than others, particularly with mold makers. When sharing a design from Fusion 360 it would be great to have a location for a “rights notice”.  If we want to attach a legal notice (a copyright notice or other legal statement) to a design we distribute through a public or private link, there isn’t now a clear way to do this.    Many of us might want to license designs under something like creative commons, but many others might require a license notice or a notice that the design is proprietary.  Our primary licensing agreement, for instance, requires that such notice be given whenever we share proprietary information with our licensee/ partner in any form. Failure to do so risks our intellectual property and our income from our work, so this is something we need to take seriously. It’s easy to do this if we share drawings, but when transferring digital files a click through notice, or  pop up, would be highly desirable. Every time Fusion360 is started, it asks the user for the Username and Password to authenticate in the clowd. Since none of the required fields can be saved in the host pc, the user must insert them manually, so forcing the user to use weak passwords. Password can be copied-and-pasted, but this must be done manually, so weak passwords are very likely. It would be more practical to have either: - Integration with passwords manager like Dashlane, OnePass or the system keychains, so Username and password is automatically filled by the system, (preferred) or - Allow the user to save the details, and have them used  automatically by the program.   So this would increase the security of the system (The program's user/pass are the same used in the site itself.)   Show More

I realize that there are a few requests for Dual Units, but has anyone requested dual units throughout the GUI? This would be more efficient as I wouldn't need to do extra work calculating the conversion of units. Can we please be able to either go to document settings and make these changes. Alternatively, be able to right-click on a dimension and then be able to individually, group, or globally, Display Dual units? Hi   As your component count increases you constantly have to keep scrolling up and down the browser tree to select highlight objects which is far from productive and eventually causes eye strain.   Would you please implement a system whereby a user could double click on the component on the screen and the corresponding browser entry is centred and fully expanded in readiness for a selection.   many thanks Matt     Show More

Hi all,   With the latest Fusion update, we're introduced with the Object to Cut feature and it's definitely a welcomed addition as we now don't have to go all ninja mode in isolating or turning on/off other components that shouldn't be affected by the cut feature.   One slight improvement I would like is for the dialog box to automatically be shown when more then 1 body/component is affected by the operation as sometimes we could miss out some obstructing component, and the current implementation requires us to press the triangle button each time.   Default is shown this way which is not so good as sometimes the user might missed out seeing that the operation actually affected other component/body It'll be nice if it's open by default or it'll open when more then 1 body/component is affected by the operation Hopefully this simple idea will get enough votes to be implemented. In the sheetmetal tab we need forming and punching tools for the easy function of punching holes for standard electronic components or custom components, plus we need the standard vent punches for air ventilation in the sheetmetal enclosure designs. 😁 The other item that will need to be located in the sheetmetal tab is the forming tool from sketch. Instructions Place a sketch (Square or rectangle with fillets on the corners).  Push the wall of the sheet metal with the sketch and add taper and depth of the push, but make sure the designer is not able to over push the raised surface flange in the sheet metal design to an item that is not possible to manufacture. (Remember they need taper and the forming radii that will not rip the material for the calculations) (See below)😋   Show More

I'm an early adopter of VR technology and have a HTC Vive VR set. It consists of a wide field of view positionally tracked goggles and 2 positionally tracked hand controlers. It is absolutely fantastic technology and I can see this having a huge place in CAD in the very near future. Google has released a program called Tiltbrush which is essentially Windows paintbrush in 3D. It is relatively simplistic, but the interface is very good and could be good inspiration for a Fusion 360 VR mode. You can see some of the interface and how it works in this video: Show More

Exporting files to 3D PDF would be an excellent addition to FUSION 360's native functions as it allows designs to be shared and presented anywhere with a tablet.  This is particularly helpful when working in the field or discussing a design with a machinist or other craft on a shop floor vs an office.  The 3D PDF Format also allows design models to then be embedded in electronic reports. Hi, I think it would be really great to have possibility to share whole folder (inside a project) to download. Right now we have 3 layers of user rights and one possibility above that to share file to anyone else.    BUT I find often with our clients that they want to share folder to their customers and let them download it.    Right now they can invite them to the project as editor, but that means that they can even edit files -> Not an option. If the invite them as a viewer, then they cant download anything -> so also not an option.   Or they can make 100 individual links -> Terrible idea.   So please, let us share whole folder with public link. Let say that the user that receive this link doesn't actually has to see all it content, it could just press a button and the download would start or something like that.   Thank you and have a nice day, Matt Show More

Do you know how camera viewfinders have frame overlays that show how a scene will fit within a certain ratio? Well, that's the idea I propose for rendering in Fusion (mockup attached). Right now getting the right camera frame it's a frustrating guessing game: I set the view to in the canvas to the best of my judgement, and most times the actual rendering comes out very different (either too far or too close). This guessing game wastes time and renderings ($$$ for commercial accounts). It would be fantastic if a frame overlay adjusted automatically in the canvas, depending on the size of the image that is selected. Show More

So it would be great to be able to use those monitors even for CAD. One for drawing, second for model space, or multiple models opened without need to switch in the fusion...   What do you think? I am an Inventor user and now our company's focus has been moved to Fusion 360. The user interface is so friendly than inventor . But what I feel is that Fusion 360 is just a modelling tool but not an engineering tool cause . Bolt designs , Chain and Belt drive generators and designs , and especially for creating configurations using iPart like in Inventor are something which should be added which is make it more of an engineering tool than just being a simple user friendly modelling tool .    This is just my opinion. I am insisting on configuration creation like iPart cause my customers have been repeatedly asking me for that  And also a concept like iLogic but should work without the dependency to know C , C++ and Java scripts like Driveworks in Solidworks should be brought atleast in Fusion 360 ultimate.    Show More

maybe the functionality is there and i havn't found out how to use it yet, but I would like to be able to mate one component to the origin planes or axis of another component.   For instance, perhaps I have a spherical part that I want to align with a cubic part.  I would like to select a face on the cube and have it alight paralel to the selected origin plane of another component.   a distance mate our joint in the sme instance would also be helpful.   Show More

I currently work for a large company and we are wanting to switch from SolidWorks to Fusion 360. Sadly though we are not able to do this because of one missing feature. We have decades of 2d drawings from Autocad and SolidWorks that do not have 3d models associated with them. We would not be able to edit any of these crucial drawings if we switched to Fusion. current array does allow you to divide the distance and position objects there.   what is really missing is being able to array parts with a distance between the objects I can adjust!   as an example I will use Blender here: You can array objects next to each other or define the space between them according to the % of the object width in addition specifically for Fusion using a distance based on a unite value like 1cm or Dimension of an object would be ideal!!!     Show More

    I see that customer hotkeys are now available for things in the menus which is great. However being able to assign a hot key and or mouse combination for viewing tools would be ideal. Currently I use the "SolidWorks" setting for mouse behavior as it is closest to what I want, however being able to fully assign these would be great. Along with assigning hot keys for standard views. Other software I find valuable uses a "blueprint" style layout that I find handy. Looking at a 10 key pad CTRL 5 is the TOP view and from there it "folds" or projects like a box or blueprint. With 5 being the top looking at the pad, 2 is the front 8 is the back and 4 is the left while 5 is the right. 1,3,7,9 are the 4 ISO views looking into the part respectively. This while making 0 the bottom view. Much more accessible that the View cube although that is handy as well. Viewing tools probably make up the most frequently used commands. So accessing these quickly as well as middle mouse CTRL/SHIFT combinations that can be more intelligently mapped not just for PAN/Zoom, but also Zoom in a box.    Show More

I'm a woodworker and a machinist.  I use my CNC router often and I LOVE Fusion 360.  I would love for you guys to impliment a v-carving capability.  I have done it in Fusion 360 using a consistent width font and a fixed draft angle whith a cut into a body.  This gives me the edges to select and trace.  However, this method does not work with fancy fonts because the extrude/cut fails.  Plus it's a pain to go in and select everthing all the time.   Can you guys go look at v-carve pro and impliment some similar functionality?  I really don't think this would be super hard to do as there are methodical ways to define the paths from any shape.  Then I wouldn't need to spend a lot of money and juggle two software packages to create nice lettering for my projects.  Further, you can do very awesome inlay with a v bit.  I've done it before with Vectric's products.   Can you add this to your roadmap plans?
