The drawing environment needs to be improved.  A few things that I think would help: Sketch tool - something that allows you to draw lines, circles, etc. that aren't part of the model geometry.  Also the ability to export the drawing to a more generic CAD format (like .dxf) would be nice.  Easier to make a custom title block.  (and add some model properties like weight, volume, etc).   Object snap on/off.  When trying to click and drag things to make small adjustments to position, object snap is a nuisance.  Adjustable object snap points (like in AutoCAD) would be nice too Ability to move details and sections to a separate page. More control of labeling details and sections (right now the first one created is 'A' and it goes from there.  No ability to change afterwards) The ability to add an "All Around" symbol to a text leader Ability to show the C. of G. location on a drawing (and dimension) Break lines for large parts Auto generate dimensions These are the things that come to mind.  If anyone knows of a way to currently do any of the things listed above, definitely feel free to let me know.   Thanks Show More

I'd like to propose adding the chamfer option to skethcing. I see that we have the ability to add fillets, so I started looking for a way to chamfer a sketch, and found nothing.   This has multiple uses, other than small little corner edge breaks. If you need to draw a corner that has a large angle on it, this tool would be able to do that. Chamfers are not always small edge breaks.... If the concern is "adding one more button" perhaps make a modifier, so if ALT (or some other key) is pressed, pressing Fillet will allow it to chamfer.   Chamfer should have the option of specifying angle as well as length of angle, length of hypotenuse, etc Show More

Creating technical drawings which are conforming to standards is an essential thing for production,ERP/SAP and is the last confirmed document. There are some features in Fusion 360 missing, like fitting tables.    To create a technical drawing for manufacturing you need to make clear where fittings are needed and which tolerances are given.    Below you can see an example for such a fitting table that is conforming to standards.   What is needed in a fitting table?   Explained at the fitting 6,5 H6: At first we need the fitting type itself like "H6" Then we need the field of tolerance like +0,009 - 0 In the end we need the minimum and maximum value like 6,509mm and 6,500mm.    Example of fitting table for Fusion 360                   Cheers    Chris Show More

The ordinate dimension tool in its current state is missing what I consider to be a significant and required feature: the ability to select tangent lines for the origin.  There are times when one wants to use a projected origin for the start of an ordinate dimension set.  See the image below.     This point is currently not selectable in Fusion.  I would love to see this functionality soon, and not just for circular features, but any feature that one could project from.  Fusion currently allows one to do a similar thing if there are two edges with a fillet between them, but I would like to see additional enhancements to the tool.   If you agree, upvote the idea!   Note: this idea started as this post on the Design, Validate, & Document forum. This is actually a two in one Idea,   I think it´s possible to improve the part list feature on drawings. One thing that will be awesome, it’s the possibility to choose by a checklist the parameters there will shown at the automatic generated part list, for example, maybe, uncheck the description and add the weight.   The second part, its related. Right now, drawings exported as DWG can only be edited in the latest version of AutoCAD, in order to be opened in other apps that support DWG they have to be converted, an option is to use DWG TrueView, but that requires an extra step and it's only available on Windows.   The problem with the generated DWGs is that they use viewports and proxy graphics/objects/elements.   I think it would be useful to have a dialog for this export function, with teh following options:   * Choose the DWG version * remove/explode proxy objects (this would convert proxy objects to regular elements like lines and arcs that can be manipulated) * Export as a simple 2D drawing in Model Space Show More

I would really appreciate improved option of aligning views in the drawing.  Really good way should be the ruller that you drag into desired position and your views snap to it. I have below design with some holes at a radius on a circular component. Center lines will show up in XY directions (as shown in left hand figure). What I would REALLY, REALLY, REALLY like to see for Fusion is a "send feedback" button.  When you press this button it will:   - take a screen shot - allow you to enter a description of the issue you are having - allow you to include other pictures and files if needed - allow you to fill in an email address or other contact information - provide a check box for whether you want to be notified of updates regarding the issue (including a ticket number and status changes) - send all of the above information along with the current and all referenced design files directly to Fusion support   The forum is great, especially when you can share files publicly.  But it does take significantly more work than a simple feedback button would.     C| Show More

It would be great to export DXF from drawing, as drawing gets updated once a change is done, so you don't need to go and re export every file separately. We normally do this in Creo, have a page with all the cut files in one, and export that, as a cut file. Good day everyone!   I would like to request a new function for placing tolerance based dimensions in our 3D Models. I am hoping this option will give me the possibility to easily check tolerance stacks, give me a better workflow since I won't have to go back and forth between drawing and model when designing the tolerances and an option to easily send models for CNC milling without manually having to change dimension to the median of the tolerance. This idea is mostly based on the Inventor model tolerances.   Of course adding a tolerance to your 3D model might be achieved in many ways but I would like to illustrate one: I feel like Model-tolerances might be relatively easily added by having some extra columns in the Parameters menu for the upper and lower tolerance, plus the current preview per dimension. I'm hoping the following mock-up will illustrate what I have in mind: Most of the time you would not want to add any tolerances so simply leaving the options blanc would be fine. Or you might even choose to hide the tolerance options all together.    Some other changes would be nice to easily work with this new functionality: I would like to quickly name parameters to find them back easily in the parameters menu. (Also see this and this idea) This might even be expanded to the possibility for typing the tolerance behind the value. For example: "100 +- 0,50 mm" or "100 +0,7 -0,2mm" or "100mm h7". I would like to be able to place these in sketches and features. Being able to use the interference check for maximum and minimum tolerances to quickly prevent simple fitting error.  Of course it would be fantastic if then the drawing environment would be able to extract this data and use it when dimensions are being placed. In the CAM-workspace i would like to be able to choose the current modelview to be on the Median value (or lower/upper). The same counts for exporting files to the 3D printer or as STEP-files. (As in most cases I would not actually mill the components myself) Although tolerance inspections can go much further than the above solution I think it would fit Fusion to keep it simple in use and easy to learn. What would be very helpful is to allow us to have jogged lines in trail visibility when creating an exploded view. Right now, when you are in the process of moving a component, the trail looks like this:   But when you hit OK, it turns to this. In my current applications, this is not especially helpful.     For an assembly purpose, a jogged line can be far more useful, and convey the order in which parts are assembled.       Any plans for this in the works? There should be a hotkey for Stop Sketch.   Every time I exit the drawing mode, I have to hover my mouse over to the top right and click stop sketch. when sketching, there needs to be a way to toggle a dimension to the edge of a sketched circle rather than just the center point.  the workaround now, includes  drawing a line tangent to the circle and then attaching the dimention to that.   I would like a hot key, or toggle that would allow placing a dimension directly on the edge of a circle.  In SWX this is done my just holding down the shift key when selecting a circle, and the dimension toggle to the edge rather than the center.   Thanks, Show More

Several ideas have been posted to suggest an option to completely disable automatic constraint creation in the sketches. While there are times when turning this off is handy, I don't like all-or-nothing solutions, so here is a more flexible solution:   Add an option to completely disable automatic constraint creation: Personally I would like this option to be both in the Preferences and also mirrored somewhere in the "immediate user interface" where it can be toggled quickly with one or two clicks with minimal menu diving. Hold Ctrl key to override default setting: When auto constraint creation is disabled using the setting described above, holding the Ctrl key temporarily toggles this setting. Thus, if auto constraint creation is disabled, holding Ctrl enables it, and if it is disabled, holding Ctrl enables it. Add checkboxes to enable/disable individual constraints: In the sketch constraint toolbox, next to each constraint, add a checkbox to selectively prevent Fusion from creating specific constraints. Thus, only constraints that are 'checked' will be automatically created. So, for example, I usually prefer the 'horizontal/vertical' constraint over the 'perpendicular', but Fusion seems to like the perpendicular constraint. If this was implemented, I would uncheck just perpendicular constraint whilst keeping all other constraints checked (enabled). (Note:  Constraints disabled this way cannot be temporarily enabled by holding down Ctrl, in other words, the Ctrl key only affects constraints that are enabled. Therefore, constraints that have been individual disabled can only be created manually.) Allow constraints to be assigned to keyboard shortcuts (maybe already in the works) In the following mock-up the coincident and perpendicular constraints have been permanently disabled and will not be excluded from auto-creation:   Please comment and vote, thanks! Please add the ability to scale sketch geometry (and model geometry) using two reference points and either a fixed measurement (i.e. 300mm) or a factorial as is currently available similar to the way the canvas scale function works (albeit that one cannot use reference points given it is a flat image).   Currently, scaling is done using a factoring method which because of the last point makes this difficult to either get accurate or annoying due to the maths that needs to be performed given it is a percentage...AutoCAD provides a good example for scaling using reference points. I'd like the option to set the default linear dimensions to fractional, but still have the ability to specify something in decimal in the same drawing.  For instance, I might have a 1/4" plate with a bunch of 1/8" holes, but then one hole that's .133+/-.001".  It wouldn't make sense to use fractions when I need a very specific size that's not easily represented as a fraction. Hi, I have a suggestion to position bodies. It's not my own idea, but I know it from Solid Edge. There you can position parts (corresponding to the bodies) directly in drill holes. That is, if I have a 5mm bore component with 10 holes and another with 5mm 12mm holes, I can screw in the first 5mm hole and pattern the other 9 holes. This feature has always saved me a lot of time in Solid Edge. Maybe this feature can also be included as a pattern in Fusion 360. Dear all,   I am migrating from inventor to fusion 360. In drawing on fusion 360 I did not localized the command break out, which present in Inventor. Are there one other way to do break out views or to hide section views when using the command section line and the section label to do something similar to break out?   If not, I think that break out should be implemented in Fusion 360. When adding iProperties in Inventor, the details contained in the various columns are automatically inserted into the detail drawing sheet.   It is stated that this idea is already implemented. In a Drawing, include an option to create a cross section view that shows only the surfaces that are actually on the cross section line. This would be like a 2D slice of the model, omitting anything 'seen beyond' the cross section plane? I have used Inventor and Solidworks in the past and at least one of those had this option. It would be great to change the direction of the dimension landing line (image below for definitions).   Fusion allows one to change the direction of the leader line, but the landing line seems pre-determined.  It is often placed in a direction that I would consider unhelpful or wrong.   This idea was created from this post.  Show More

Currently users are able to "Model" items using a number of different linear "Units of Measure" -  Centimetre, Millimetre, Metre, Inch & Foot.   However, when entering the "Drawing" workspace, for the same "design", Fusion 360 currently limits the Units of Measure to either "Inches" or "Millimetres".   This is despite the User's default "Preference" settings (Preferences -> General -> Drawing) displaying that "Drawings" shall "Inherit From Design" the unit of measure of the item/design as it appears in the modelling (and related design) workspaces.   When a User moves from the Modelling workspace into the Drawing workspace, a dialog box appears in which to establish the drawing environment (standard, UOM, paper size etc). However, the only "Units of Measure" available are "Inches" or "Millimetres" - regardless of what the model uses.   This process is inconsistent with that which is defined in the User's "Preferences", and is a cumbersome and unwieldy programming implementation, which is particularly limiting to Users wanting to generate drawings where their models use "other available" units of measure (eg. feet, metres etc), and yet they are unable use these same units of measure in their drawings.   Handing over a drawing, which was modelled in metres or feet, and the output in that drawing appears as inches or millimetres, and then asking the reader to convert the scale back to that which was modelled, is somewhat embarrassing!    Hoping this limitation can be rectified quickly.   Thanks in advance.         Show More

I would love a drawing tool to create catenary curves. This would allow for realistic depiction of hanging chains and catenary, self supporting arches.  Others have suggested a formula for using a equation: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/equation-for-catenary-curve/td-p/3763129 . . . but for those of us who might struggle with that process a catenary curve option would be wonderful, and it does exist in some competing products such as Rhino 6.  Show More

When working with sheetmetal and machined parts with many holes I really like using hole chart/table tools to declutter drawings and allow more information. I also feel it improves readability.    Most the major Mechanical CAD packages include this, Inventor being one of them. Since there is a major focus on CAM in Fusion, plus the soon coming 2D profile cutting addition to CAM and Sheetemetal forming capability, I feel this would be a great addition to the software package.   (Found an Autodesk Inventory example from the internet) Show More

I am pretty sure that this feature is not on fusion 360.   My idea is to allow users to work on more than one item at a time if the user as more that one display.   For example - if a user has 3 displays, and they are making an f1 car. Sketch offset can take the value from a parameter but will not keep it later on. So you can't change offsets on sketches by changing parameters values  like the rest of the drawings. Show More

In 360 - we have a great asset in translating to a print drawing.  - But as near as I can tell, we cannot generate multiple pages for a single drawing.     For my case: My work is heavy industrial and having multiple pages for a document is often necessary.  I frequently will dedicate a single page to a single profile/view.     Instead of creating multiple drawing files - having a single multiple page (for me) would save a lot of time.      Also, being able to (and I've mentioned this before) adjust individual settings for text sizes and line weights.          Show More

As it is now, you can only set numerical limits for tolerances, could you perhaps also implement tolerances for fits according to ISO 286? it would be really nice to see something like ø55 K7 (+0,009/-0,021) and maybe it will even set the numericals depending on the base diameter and the fit (K7 in the example) automatically so as to eliminate mistakes? Currently i have to redo all the work in drawing mode for the mirrored parts.   Is it possible to make a function for completely mirroring a drawing? If a design is used by another design or drawing and you save with the timeline rolled back you get a nasty shock when you update and get a long list of errors from missing components\bodies. So when saving give a warning if the timeline's rolled back. Not only would it save that Oh No moment when all the errors pop up but it saves having to go through the procedure of opening the design again rolling the timeline to the end, save then update the linked design again.   Thanks Mark Show More

Shocked that Fusion360 doesn’t handle this. Please please please add the ability for fusion to fix gaps and areas that might have overlapping lines. Various hacks out there - connect the dots, gap finder etc.. the fusion360 product obviously knows when a profile isn’t closed so code should be there to correct it. Some of us are using digital tracing boards and don’t have the granularity of fusion to see the gaps (I had one in a drawing at .0005 ! ) didn’t even know it was there.. this is a common problem as I have found it all over the web with people struggling with it. Maybe an out of the box idea would to not only make a fix button that allows user to set tolerances but also be able to set fusion as a whole to “not “ be so precise? I know sounds counterintuitive but in some cases . 0005 precision just isn’t needed .. honestly this problem is preventing me from moving forward with fusion and I would really like to - had I not stumbled on this I would have probably purchased fusion at the 40% discount today. Anyway, please fix this issue - it will save many users countless headaches and time, I personally have spent days looking for a solution and still stuck. Thanks for listening Show More
