I'm trying to align components in a conceptual design with gaps for future parts. I can place a Joint Origin on Lines, centre lines, solids, faces edges etc etc BUT NOT PLANES < surely this should be possible ????
Although you can pick a face you also have to pick a point on the face, corner, midpoint, centre or other feature. A plane has no fixed size so there are no points to attach to. You can create a sketch on the plane and add a point then select the point for a joint origin but without some sort of geometry to attach to it just isn't going to work.
Coming from solidworks, where there are no such restrictions that's a negative.
The classic example is where you are doing concept design and so have to leave space between bodies/components.
In this situation it would be good to be able to join to any construction geometry eg planes, axes, intersections, points, as well as, sketch entities.
Otherwise loving F360 🙂 .... it (and onshape), must be getting a lot of ex-solidworks people as DS policy/roadmap is totally confusing and also costly as they try to gouge people into having both Solidworks and Catia-lite (aka 3D Xperience, or whatever this months name for it is) ... oh and all these are non-compatible with each other 🙂
