OK so I need to explain better, in other software, in addition to the visibility toggle lightbulb there is the alternative of hiding or show only. This gives the user the ability to only show one feature in the browser easily rather than deselecting and switching off the lights on all bodies you do not want to see. Ashlar Velum has a similar feature.
What would be amazing is Adobe style show hide buttons so I could drag select groups of things that I wanted to show or hide. Try photoshop or Illustrator and you will see what I mean. I can't imagine this type of interface is proprietary. Cinema 4D have different buttons for different states which is what I think you are suggesting, but I find that annoying as I constantly have to try to remember which button is for on and which is for off. (Of course there are 3 buttons for show in render and not etc, but you know). A simple drag select where I can turn off multiple layers at a time would be great, with a hotkey to just solo one layer.
