Generative Design for Non-Commercial Users

Generative Design for Non-Commercial Users

Please, please, please can Autodesk consider making generative design available to non-commercial users. e.g. Hobbyist makers. I use Fusion 360 for my 3D print designs and small scale CNC. My 3D printer and CNC machine cost $200-$300 each - not suitable for commercial work, and I can't pay more than that each year for a software subscription.

We have seen over recent years the huge growth in the Maker community driven in no small part by the generosity of companies like Autodesk making their software available. I say "generous", but it is unlikely that this has cost them anything in lost sales. Small scale users would never have been able to pay for the software in any case.

I do believe that Autodesk could put itself at the forefront of generative design by unleashing the creativity of the maker community in this area. Hobbyists have the time to experiment with the software and provide useful feedback for future development. I am sure this has happened already with Fusion 360.

If there are problems with cloud computing capacity on the back-end, by all means put non-paying users to the end of the queue. We don't mind waiting a few hours.

Please Autodesk, add this fantastic feature to what is already the best software for hobbyist CAD and CAM.
