Fusion 360 - Part-off with chamfer or arc.

Fusion 360 - Part-off with chamfer or arc.

Hello to all,

I guess what ianmacleanllc and other users have been asking for is a part-off with chamfer.

  1. The part off tool moves to position 1 in axe Z in rapid passe the end of the part by a X distance(that we input).
  2. The tool moves down in feed to below the extension of the chamfer + by minimum of the distance of the corner radius of the part-off tool.
  3. The tool retracts in rapid to the top approach.
  4. The tools moves in rapid in Z only to the extension to start to form the chamfer.
  5. The tool follows the chamfer in feed to the end of the chamfer.
  6. The tools then parts off the part by going down passe the center of the part by minimum distance of the corner radius of the part off tool.
  7. The tools moves back up in X in rapid.
  8. Then the tool moves to the XZ approach point.

Is this still not a thing yet?

This is the feature that I really miss, coming from SolidCam.

Any workaround still just don't quite cut it. I hope it gets addressed soon.

+1 For feature request.

What are some decent workarounds?

You can trick groove into doing it, I did it once I think you have to offset the rear by the width of the insert and possibly change the inner radius to 0.

To be honest it's that easy to write by hand I've just been doing it myself as I find I end up hand editing most the lathe g-code fusion puts out anyway.

I must say then i'm surprised then The Fusion team did not give a solution by now. They are pro-active normally. Is this a lack of interest for the turning. Or more interested in doing face to face spindel or 8 axis lathe. Lets just say then this is needed in the basic tools for cnc lathe.

Have a nice day to all!

Feature is added!

Now on the Part Off toolpath there is an "edge break" Check box. Has options for chamfers or fillets, and sizes. Exactly what I wanted.

Thanks Fusion!

Can we get this same feature added to HSMWorks?
