Find in Timeline

Find in Timeline

I would like to add "Find in Timeline" to the dropdown list when right clicking. I know that sometimes a series of hash-marks will appear above the feature when selected, but not if the body you are inquiring about has been paced into a component. I would like the feature to scroll across into view along the timeline.

If you click Edit Feature and you've moved a body into a component it will give you the option to edit the Copy\Move feature or the feature that created the surface.

Do you want to find the feature in the timeline to edit it or just to find where it was created?

I needed to find it in the timeline because I needed to delete the feature, and I couldn't find it easily in the timeline as it wasn't highlighted and was also so early in the model that it was scrolled off-screen.

Yes, we do need this feature.  I have started working with fusion files with over a hundred timeline items, and I think we should be able to right click a feature, and have the option to zoom to that part of the timeline.  that would save a ton of time

I second that. It's a real pain making changes (especially deleting features) when you have search for it by scrolling entire history

I would also like to add my support to this addition.  Currently I need to backspace through the timeline one action at a time until I can see the action on the model undone.  With a lengthy timeline this can take a long time.  What I would like to be able to do is click on a body and have all the timeline transactions that have impacted that body indicated.  This way I would only have to check the highlighted transactions and not the entire timeline.

Thanks for listening.

No response from the fusion team on this unfortunately, please consider up voting a similar request to improve the history timeline here

Here is an alternative approach to creating something like bookmarks(using decal function) on the surface of bodies. After selecting decal on body surface it appears in the timeline.15.PNG13.PNG14.PNG

AGREED .. the timeline is THE weak link, and there are LOADS of ideas on here to improve it.....

  • Group by parts
  • Have colour cycling for bodies NOT just components.
  • Folders
  • Book marks
  • Hide hidden icons in time line when body/sketch etc is hidden

I really need this feature.

I have a model with a large timeline and regularly need to delete holes and have to spend a long time finding the feature in the timeline. Sometimes the feature highlights in the timeline if you select it which speeds it up a bit but mostly it doesn't which is really annoying.

Please Autodesk create this feature soon.

The "Timeline" needs to break free of the LINE as its ONLY interface. I am not advocating losing the timeline as it is now, only adding other ways to interact with it.

A "Timeline" panel like the project/data panel? Or a separate window?

Inside of this/these more spacious container(s), make the Timeline accessible/viewable in different formats.

-searchable!

-text list/tree

-annotations: visual, text, drawings, audio, etc.

-thumbnail list showing visual snapshots of the model

-folders or other non-linear organization.

-able to display both the current component timeline AND the global timeline at the same time. I want to see my place in the whole timeline even as I am scrubbing within a component. Sometimes I think I am far enough back/forwards in time within the component, only to find my edit was not back/forwards enough for the whole project.

-smart folders to filter/group things. IE all holes, all combines, all objects matching a name/property filter.

-Slicers like Excels pivot tables

-something akin to Excels "trace dependents/precedents."

-a directed acyclic graph (DAG)

This and a number of related timeline improvements that I think should all be related facets of one thing.
