Allow for the component position on the axis of the joint to be defined by aligning or offsetting two faces of the joined components. Like a bearing up against the shoulder of a shaft.
In general, constraining assemblies, especially when the components to be designed around need to be positioned in free space first, is difficult in Fusion 360. I have found no advantage of Fusion's current approach to assembly, over the traditional 'mating' features, only limitations to the users fine control. The assembly features Fusion leans on and calls suitable need to be very well developed if it is going to accommodate real world design practice/realities.
Bringing some fundamentals back into Fusion 360 would make it a premium CAD choice; my guess is that Autodesk is trying to avoid this?
Looking forward to this software maturing further, as it is a joy most days.
