I was recently asked to produce an animation of a mechanical assembly. My daily tool - Catia - is very cumbersome when it comes to animations, so I rebuilt it in Fusion. Immediately it looked better, however I ended up having to screen grab a looped Motion Study, whilst at the same time rotating the viewpoint using the compass. The end result was ok-ish, but not that fluid. What I'd like to be able to do is:
- Set the assembly in motion (for example drive a crankshaft)
- Combine the now moving assembly with a storyboard timeline of camera views
- Export the finished animation to a format like .avi or .wmv
It seems like Fusion can almost do this, but the various attributes need to be sewn together into a functional tool.
