Export sketch text in DXF correctly

Export sketch text in DXF correctly

Steps

I'm using AF360 2.0.1909.

I create a sketch on a plane, add some shapes and some text.

I exit the sketch, and Save as DXF.

I open the DXF sketch in Inkscape.

I choose the default DXF import options. (automatic A4 sizing, Latin1, Arial).

Result

Text appears as a single block rectangle.

Should be

Silouhette of each letter, including interiors of letters like 'o' and 'a'

Current Workaround

In Fusion360: edit sketch, right click on text and choose "Explode text".  Text is no longer editable (boo) but does export correctly.

Got the same issue. It's a pain to work with our electronics design as I have to explode the text every time.

@i-make-robots,

The dxf export inside of sketch does not give you options when you export.  This is not the desired workflow and the team is exploring which environment to provide a real .dxf export.   Here is the list of enhancements we will be working on for the real dxf export.

  1. Discoverability
  2. Save to previous version (back to 2000)
  3. Layers
  4. Colors
  5. Text (notes)
  6. Selection in export - auto-clean
  7. Preview
  8. Scale

Once the we implement the new export, you will get the expected behavior for notes.

Cheers,
