Elastic Bodies

Elastic Bodies

I would like Fusion to have elastic body (flexing) simulation. That way you could see for example rubber or wire spring behave 🙂

This is something we might get to in a years time. Marking as future consideration.

It could be perfect for following the movement of a cam.

Hi, I'd just like to request the simple simulation of elastic materials. Not necessarily for all aspects of Fusion 360 - but it'd be nice to enable contact sets and seeing how something might snap back into place after moving it from equilibrium.

Seals, springs, boots, gaskets, bands, cases, cord, hoods, shrouds, natural materials like leather, rubber, woven materials including rope and tarp, etc. all have engineering properties that must be anticipated. I design with all these things all the time and would love to

  • Visualize the range of motion
  • Anticipate quantities
  • Make patterns
  • Test strain and fatigue parameters
  • Compare material dimensions for optimal operational range
  • Observe natural fold, loop, sag, drag, flag, whip and stretch characteristics.

Thanks, Dave

Hi, especially for coil and beam springs.
