Drawings - Broken View for long parts

Drawings - Broken View for long parts

There should be the ability to create broken views in the Drawings mode. By this I mean that if I have a long part (e.g. a shaft) I should be able to show only the interesting parts of the shaft, allowing me to scale up that view for better visibility. At the present time I have to put in the entire shaft at a very tiny scale, then create detail views for the interesting parts.

This functionality is apparently available in Inventor, as people are submitting questions about it and showing images of what I'd like here:

Can I make drawing that I can understand to make parts? Yes!

Can I make drawings a machinist won't laugh at? Sadly, no.

Inventor has this feature. Solidworks has this feature. Creo, Solid Edge. You guys are Autodesk!  Autodesk has been doing sheet drawing software since forever.  Fusion needs a KILLER drawing work space to match the KILLER app it has become.

Following! We need this feature also.

If this feature is implemented we are gonna stick with fusion 360 after this year aswell we are trying it out for 1 year and this is one of the elements that might be a dealbreaker for us and the fact that you cant change line thickness in a drawing is a minor thing. outher then that we are liking what we see in this program exept the bug with DXF exporting where you have to restart fusion befor exporting to not have what you see below.

38" long parts don't fit on a "B" size sheet unless scaled down so far all features are lost. Then having to create detail views to blow everything up to see it is crazy. I'm a machinist and designer and I wouldn't send a print out like that ever. Fusion 360 needs a way to break drawing views.

Another Vote for me. I love Fusion. Currently using Inventor but Fusion is the future.

I'd be happy with MBD instead...

I really miss this feature that I used to have in Inventor.

This is a feature that is need to properly convey design intent through DWGs by allowing the draft person to fully utilize the DWG "white-space". My company will not be continuing our subscription to Fusion 360 after this year as many needed features, like this and being able to change line weights and scales, creating layers, etc. in drawings are not available.

This is a joke. I'm starting to consider other software. This is only the tip of the iceberg. How has this not been implemented in 2 years?!

Hi Guys.. You are doing a very good job with Fusion 360.. But this function is very important, and a basic need to a good drawing. Please, already passed 3 years from the first solicitation for this. This is a sirious gap in your software.

Is there any update on when this feature may be implemented?

This really needs to be onboarded. It shocked me a bit today to learn it cannot currently do this.

Well, this is disappointing... I work with and design Hydraulic Cylinders and components.  The Rod is obviously a important component and this feature is necessary due to the lengths.  I had the unfortunate experience of using SketchUp for the last 3 year for everything and even that was able to make break-line views relatively simple, but I don't want to go back to that!

Definitely would appreciate this as a future addition! Thanks.

Absolutely right…. We´re designing “long parts” as well and face the same problem.

Shouldn´t be too difficult to upgrade the toolbox and ad a broken view feature.
