DogBone option on 2D contour

DogBone option on 2D contour

I it would be great if the 2D contour CAM operation had the ability to specify dogbone cuts on all inside corners.

This could be done as a simple checkbox and then a bit diameter number, then the toolpath would be generated to automatically cut a dogbone around all inside corners.

Or... maybe you could select the vertical parts of all inside corners where you want it to be done.

(YES, I'm aware of the dogbone add-in which puts it in the model).

respectfuly request that you UNDO the move of my dogbone cam op feature request. It is NOT the same as the one you merged it with.

The first is a requst for a new type of sketch feature, mine is for an option on the 2D contour cam operation.

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME IN MY OPINION.

What is the advantage with this over actually modelling them?

I'm all for a good way to model them. Not so much just ramming them in with a 2D Contour.

+1 for dogbone at the CAM stage.

The advantage is that modeling and machining are separate stages. The purpose of dogbones is to allow square tabs to fully seat in the corner of a machined slot. It doesn't matter what shape it is, as long as the tab will slide in. If you're using an 1/8" cutter, then the dogbone would be a different shape than if you were using a 1/2" cutter.

I came from BobCAD, where there was a simple checkbox for 'Corner Types'. For dogbones, you just check off 'bisect inside corners' and specify a distance. Base geometry remains square. I love Fusion 360 - dynamic toolpaths FTW! But this would be a most welcome add.

Plenty of other CAMs have this feature.  I also would like ask the fusion team to allow this option under "Overcut inside corners" or something on contours and maybe pockets if possible.  There is a script that does it in CAD mode, but it is pretty slow for big objects.

IMHO Dogbones belong to CAM, not CAD so I agree with the topic author.

Actually modelling them is sometimes a gross pain, due to sheer number of them in typical woodworking "finger" joints.

Unfortunately this idea did not get the support of the community and as such we will not be pursuing it. Please feel free to rework and resubmit this one down the road. Thanks for taking the time to submit your idea.

I really feel like this should be an obvious thing to add to fusion CAM. Currently doing a job with a lot of custom boxes that require dog bones. It would be miles easier to just dog bone it in CAD, but instead we're painstakingly modelling all the dog bones... There's already a drop down box for "outer corner mode" so it would makes sense to do an "inside corner mode" as well

You would think eh? Not even all that hard to implement.

But this how the Fusion team works. You submit an idea and it sits, probably not even being seen by a majority of users who area busy doing their projects. Then they claim it "didn't get enough community support". So, it's really up to the community to decide on your features? Not your product managers who are typically the ones that decide what features you need to compete in the market place?

Seem likes Idea Center is just here to appease users and give them the false sense that they have input. I have never seen one of these actually get implemented, and I have submitted a few of them.
