There should be a way to delay updating Fusion 360, or at least be able to run an outdated version when required. Currently, if there is a new update available, Fusion users are only given the option to "update now" or "quit". This makes the program nearly unusable if you are onsite with a client, and trying to show him or her your design since you are now completely locked out of the program until you find a wifi connection and wait for the massive update file to be downloaded and installed.
The updates are killing me in an educational setting. My IT folks wont give students (or me) administrative privileges, so I have to report that an update has happened, and by the time it gets fixed, a new update comes along and again it is unusable except for the students that have it installed on their own laptops. I really like the program, and it is intuitive, and allows students to collaborate easily, but if we cant get into it, it is a good as a paperweight. I am seriously considering going back to SolidWorks which we have licenses for, and don't have to worry about the constant updates...which are probably great, but beyond the abilities of most of my first year students (and me too) anyway. Could someone from Autodesk please reply with the way that students can upgrade the program at school by user access rather than by administrative access so I can pass it on to the IT people. I agree ... the latest requires mac os 10.11 which we dont and my students are right in the middle of their CAD work and orthographic drawings! Then needs to be an option for updating
The option to disable updates is so important for cam, sorry manufacturing updates as enforced updates can cause problems with the cnc usage, which puts users on stop!
