Create arc using two points and a radius

Create arc using two points and a radius

Would be usefull to have an arc tool that let's you specify two points and radius of the arc that passes through those two points.

Use case: I need to be able to create a profile that is an arc of 25 and 15 foot radius and passes through two end points on the part which is being cut.

Currently, to do this I must calculate the height of the arc based on the radius and endpoint distances (using an external calculator) and then set the third point at this height using an offset construction line.

Would just be much simpler to click the two end point and type in the diamater value.

Fritter63,

Can you send me some images that help explain your scenario.

I made a screencast putting two arcs at the same endpoints with the dimensions you gave.  I am not sure what you are looking for as an end result.

While that sort of works, it's 1) more complicated and 2) it moves the drawing WAY off the screen and away from where you might want. See attached picture. I did your same procedure, but this time using 15 FEET and 25 FEET (which are the dimensions I need) and it through the entire sketch, including the rectangle I'm creating the arc on out to the 25 foot radius area.

What I'd like to do is draw the rectangle, then select "arc with specified radius", click the two endpoints, which in this case are the vertices of the rectangle, then enter the radius as the dimension. Then the arc would just draw in place and not move the sketch around in the co-ordinate system.

Obviously, moving things around wouldn't be desirable when you're creating the arc attached to another geometry.

In another use case, I need to create and arc of a specified radius (15 FEET in this case) and be able to split it in half, have one end coincident with a circle, and then sweep that arc around the radius of the circle. So once again, it's needs to stay in place where I've located the ends.

I'm assuming that "archived" means put on a shelf? Why was this archived after only two weeks of gathering support?

I would also like to be able to do what fritter63 is requesting. Any Progress on this ?

I've re-posted this feature request, please vote if you are still interested, cheers! Link: Arc tangent to two lines plus radius & Arc through two points plus radius
