Copy Components with Joints

Currently, if you copy/mirror/pattern a set of components, you have to remake all of the joints that constrain the copied components. It'd be great if there was a checkbox within these tools that said "Copy with Original Joints", so that the mates will be auto-generated within the components selected and copied along.

 

As a further development, integrate a joint copying tool so that you could select external joint origins that you want copied parts to fix to - say I have a bolt, a standoff, two washers, and nut as a set of components I'd like to copy, and I have a clock-cage gearbox made up of two plates and four of these standoff constructions. I could copy the components that make up the standoff assembly (bolt, standoff, nut, washers) with all of the mates they have with each other, and additionally select the joint origin that affixes those parts to the clock cage plates. I could then select the three other joint origins where I'd like to put the remaining three standoff assemblies, and Fusion 360 would automatically copy the selected components and mate them to the plates in the selected area.

This is a very important option. I am in the process of modeling a front-end loader. I produced all the components for one side and spent quite a bit of time joining all the rotating and sliding parts. It was quite a shock to discover that these joints were not replicated to the other side on mirroring them. Hate to say it, but this would have been a complete breeze in Solidworks . . .

I went back into the Mirror feature to see if there was some box to check to allow this. I use this ability so often in SW.

I agree fully, Fusion more or less missed the mark on this command. Perhaps this is in the works but there hasn't been anything posted about the joint command for some time. We definitely need the ability to be able to copy components such as nuts and bolts etc with their mates, such that the only thing we need to define is the new location. This could be made even much better by selecting 'all similar holes' or something along that line. Similarly when you create a pattern or mirror components, all patterned components should retain their original independent or local mates, or at least be locked in place so they cannot be moved without editing the pattern command. This is needed in a big way so hopefully it can be moved near the top of the never-ending pile of ideas. Thanks again to AutoDesk for such a killer program, you guys are really kicking it.

Just learning fusion, simple assembly, made 2 holes, inserting fasteners. Copy with 'mates'? Nope. I'm to create joints for each instance?

 

Ugh, ok the holes are centered over a plane, I'll mirror the fastener, nope, second one is unconstrained. What? If I'm mirroring something I want it update across the plane to reflect the original components position. Why on earth would you mirror a component and then be able to move/mate the mirror independently of the original.  By definition this would no longer be a mirror, yes?  If I just wanted a copy I would have copied it. 

 

Tried pattern components as well, same same.  

I see mirror and pattern work as expected with bodies rather than components, but this doesn't provide a parts list count. 

 

What am I supposed to do if there's 50 holes with fasteners? Just leave them unconstrained? 

I want to love you fusion.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but this seriously needs to be added to Fusion.  It is such a simple and basic function, yet completely missing...  Come on Fusion!  Get it together!

 

I made a Stewart Platform, and having to assemble 12 u-joints, one at a time, instead of just copying the first one, was immensely infuriating, and wasted so much time for no reason.
