chamfer on thread

chamfer on thread

Its very annoing to make a chamfer to a 3d modeled thread hole or shaft. Please include a tool that simplifys that.

Right now I only can draw a triangle and revolve this as cut away to the thread, but this takes a lot of time compared to the champfer tool.

If I use the chamfer tool it has no valid edge to use it on the thread.

David,

I raised this issue a couple of years ago.  Still not fixed.  I don't understand why this company just doesn't take time, from try to introduce new functionality, and address all their current half baked features.  This thread issue is just one of many.

For a hole, you can use the Hole tool and create a countersunk hole with threads. Configure the head diameter and countersink angle to get the chamfer you want. That doesn't work if you need the chamfer on both ends of the hole though.

You're right that chamfering a threaded shaft is not an easy thing to do.

Thanks @helibum didnt know the tool is that powerful! Very helpful!

However the tool also doesn't do the job correctly... see pic:

until they fix this issue you can chamfer before, then thread the part. After that from timeline if you drag chamfer feature in front of the thread feature it will give you a thread with proper chamfer.

Im just trying to think of any application where this would actually matter but nothing comes to mind.

Then you sure haven’t been designing very long. Don’t worry someday you’ll get there.
