It would be great if Fusion 360 could output the model's COG.

Moments of inertia already got > 10 votes and a BS «implemented» or «solution provided» but +10 / no-brainer on this (and higher moments)

Awesome @colin.smith !

Have a project coming up soon that will need that (and the higher order moments 🙂

Lets be sure to make it a selectable point entity, not a frutratingly unclickable dot like it is in Inventor. 🙂

If it's a point entity, make it an origin with the axes defined by eigenvectors of the next moments of inertia (defaulting to the nearest possible approximation of the global ones when they're degenerate)

Great, not I can finally use Fusion for design 🙂

But @Anonymous it's so much fun trying to do computer aided mechanical engineering with paper and pencil or a whiteboard !

Just reading this idea. COG is interesting. I suppose the default would be that all bodies are made of materials of the same density?!

Yes @kdeuler but you can pick the default material and there is an extensive library (and I think you can already specify custom ones)

In addition, one should be able to specify wall thickness and infill %, to simulate what a 3d printer would do.

This looks very cool.. I hope there's also a visual representation (CM and vectors for principal axes that can be used to define an origin : )
