CAM path smoothing

CAM path smoothing

I'd like to see the CAM software have simple options for tool lead in, such as parallel, perpendicular, plunge, etc. with the leadin lengths and positions defined at set up.  The main reason is that I program production jobs that use subroutines to call perimeter shapes at incremented depths so sections of code can be turned on and off and most importantly be able to identify a lines of code that need adjustment.  When the software simulates a short circular arc with thousands of line segments the code becomes huge.  I want every arc and every line to be one line of code. I like the interface so far but find that I can't use the code that is currently created.

What machine/post are you using?

This is acutally a post issue.  All lead-ins are arc in the systems.  The post converts them to lines if the given post determines that the machine doesn't support arcs in the plane that they are in.

This does not address the lead in choice that I would like to make.  I'd like a steight line aproach that can be either perpendicular or parallel to the surface or a plunge with zig zag etc...

I am using a Tormach CNC so the Tormach post processor.

Have you looked at all the options in the linking tab?
