Better Use of Screen Space

Better Use of Screen Space

Hey Fusion 360 team, good work....I love your product.  I am very grateful that you make F360 free to hobby modeling enthusiasts like me.

In the Browser, the Sketches, Bodies, and Construction lists can get quite long.  I have been working on a complex model of a motorcycle tire with tread cuts made in it.  As you can imagine, with a lot of individual tread cuts, there's a lot going on.  Working with this model requires me to go back and forth between long lists of sketches and construction items.  To keep everything straight, I have to carefully name related items with the same numbers.  It helps to be able to turn things on/off as needed to eliminate clutter.  The work flow is slow and cumbersome due to having to scroll down a long way to find anything.

=> Please make these lists (Bodies, Sketches, and Construction) into separate windows (resizable to as large as fits on the screen) that can be placed off to the side such as on a second monitor.  It would be nice if these separate windows could use multiple columns such that they could contain large numbers of entries, so that the need for scrolling is eliminated.  Optionally, any equivalent functionality would be great.  Don't be afraid to use lots of computer screen real estate to show the model information; lots of people have multiple large-size monitors and its a shame that all this screen real estate is going to waste.

=> Please make it so anything can be labeled (the label to show up on the item/surface), and the labels (and groups of labels) can be turned on/off.  It would be nice also to be able to set the label font/size/color.  With complex models, labeling things can be crucial to success.

=> Please check into your code and find out why a complex model should cause the program to slow way down.  Some times I click on a command and then have to wait while the program has to think for up to half a minute or more before displaying the first requestor box for the command.  => Aggravating!!   The program was running fine, speed wise, until the model got to a certain level of complexity, and then it really started getting slow.

=> In my job I use PTC Creo a lot.  This is a mature and expensive program, and they have a better way of displaying how the models (parts and assemblies) are built.  They don't use a separate timeline and list of bodies/sketches/etc; all this information is integrated into one continuous list.  Their way of doing this is intuitive and well thought out.  I think you should get a look at how they do things and try to copy it as much as possible.  Your way of displaying the part/assembly information is fine for smaller/less complicated projects, but it doesn't work acceptably well for something complicated...too much vertical or horizontal scrolling...and the timeline items are not labeled.
