Better Math Needed

Better Math Needed

It's clear to me that better math is needed in all CADCAM products when it comes to parametic sketching:

I also believe it's time to do away with a history tree and unite parametric and direct modeling:

I read your math post, and somewhat have to agree here.

I personally think knowing also workflows from Alias and SolidThinking that the constraint workflow how it is employed right now is like hand-cuffs to me as a designer. Sure if I want to build some generic looking mechanical designs, this type of sketching is sufficient. For me with my work as a designer and my shapes I deal with those sketch engines are painful to use.

The for sure have some real use but I feel this really depends on the model and a software should follow the thought process of a designer and not the designer has to follow how the software only allows you to think.

However I am not so sure about unification. I do not mind having base featrues in Fusion as this allows me to build a dumb model and use the timeline when I want to interact the models.

However having followed the discussion it seems they the Fusion team is actually working on something that bridges a free form modeler and solid modeler when it comes to 2D and 3D sketching and constraints. So I am curious about it.

Nick created this for me today. Perhaps you and others might find it helpful like I did. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the user interface for dumping a history tree:

I've seen something similar to what Nick proposed in SolidEdge and what I can say is, it'll become a constraint nightmare as nothing straight is really straight. I believe Paramatric and Direct need to co-exist as some features are better done in history then in Paramatric then Direct and vice-versa. I like how F360 has an Edit Face and Sculpt environment as it allows us to seperate features that need to be organically modified.

I believe what people would want is a smarter history where it can fix and tidy itself up and the user is able to click and reposition the features anywhere in the timeline and it'll be smart enough to rebuild the model to fix it up.
