It would be peachy to be able to quickly label things in my sketches similar to the way I can in drawings. Here's why:
When sketching I often have a number of construction lines through points projected from different overlapping parts of an existing body. The lines can be very close together and it's hard to remember which is the correct reference line for offsets of additional features. A quick label would save me always having to bring up the body, rotate around, and try to figure out which points came from which body features.
A common workflow would be an electronics case for an oddly shaped PCB. I do the footprint sketch on the XY axis, extrude upward into a box, then add a sketch on the end panel for locating cutouts. I project box features and add corresponding construction lines to the sketch. I may need dozens of construction lines on that sketch and may revisit it dozens of times as the project design evolves. Each time I have to go and figure out which line goes with which feature.
I could create a drawing, but I don't need a drawing, because these models are for prototypes, so they're going directly to a 3D printer and out the door.
I've searched the forums & looked at the roadmap, and haven't found any workarounds or active proposals for this concept. I think it would be a huge help for certain workflows.
Note that this is not the same as the future consideration idea for adding annotations to a 3D model. That's also a good idea, but its purpose is to better enable 3D models to be used for communication with other people, and there could be a lot of design considerations applying to such a feature. My purpose is much more limited: I just want quick and dirty annotations to improve internal productivity (and let me throw away the printouts I currently make and label by hand).
