Age restriction lower

Hi Fusion 360 community

I have a group of 16 enthusiastic extension Math students ready to start modelling 3D cars on Fusion 360. They are, however, 12 years old, and so can't access the software.

I'd like Autodesk to review this, and see if there's a way, with full parental permission, the students can start modelling. Tinkercad is too simple, and not powerful/flexible enough for their needs.

From a business perspective it also makes sense, as having them start out in Primary School, they would be more likely to use it in the High School (as opposed to Sketchup, which has options for under 13).

Thanks for your time, and thanks for a great product.

Daniel

I'm pretty sure the age restriction is because of the COPPA in the US, which puts pretty significant requirements and potential penalties on companies that collect information about children younger than 13 years of age on the internet.

The way around this problem for you would probably be to have the parents "give permission" by registering the accounts, and letting the children use the accounts in their name.

If you want a general educational contact for Autodesk, then you should probably talk to your country representative / business development agent, rather than filing a software feature request.

Thanks for your comment Jon. The problem is that students need to use their educational school email to register (not their parent's email). I just don't see a way around it without lying about their age, which isn't going to happen.

Again, Sketchup manages to provide a package through the use of G-suite for Education. It would be great if Autodesk tried to provide something similar.

I'll try out your idea about the country representative, perhaps there's a way:)

Cheers

I'm in a similar situation. Tinkercad is good but not powerful enough for my students. We did have 123D Design which sat between the two pieces of software but that was made defunct.

Our school is talking to Autodesk at the moment to resolve this problem. If it can't be resolved we will have to move away from their software which is unfortunate.
