Advanced UV texturing tools

Advanced UV texturing tools

Fusion needs advanced UV texturing tools so you can texture an object accurately.

Currently this is what Fusion provides:

Faces are not stitched together into the correct flow,

The bend structure is textured with a planar image and thus does not show the bend flow

It seems loft makes a trimmed planar face and does not loft (sweep 2 rails correctly and also forgets to produce the needed

UV coordinates)

When rebuilding the loft (sweep 2 rails) in MOI you get the correct UV mapping.

For furniture design this is what you want to be able to produce via rendering:

I highly assume this is an area that is not important to them

also OBJ export is junk in Fusion (no uv maps no ngons no mesh quality control)

would use Fusion much more if it had UV features and export mesh to quads.

@keqingsong

better UV texture flow is implemented!

Hey, I'm new-ish to Fusion. Is this now possible?

Just spent a full day in Keyshot trying to add a UV texture to an object exported from Fusion 360 (using a STEP file and an OBJ file).

No luck at all, yet the same object modelled in Rhino and saved as OBJ renders UV's easily.

This reduces the usefulness of Fusion 360 for me as I use UV textured models for product shots.

Shame, as otherwise it's a good modeller.

@Anonymous

Well that’s kinda what you get with keyshot.

i would rather use a more mature uv texture app like maya and vray etc.

Hmm...

I eventually sorted it by using a more mature modeller... RHINO.

UV's are now no problem, even on complex objects.

This would be very helpful for me too.

Technically speaking nurbs is nurbs and I assume what rhino does is a better UV patch alignment between nurbs patches.

i am surprised that this is a hard task to do in keyshot - for the price tag that should be a must have tool considering that it can load native cad files.

Going to add my voice here as a "great to have;" I prefer the toolset of Fusion for modeling since it is so intuitive for hard-surface stuff especially. Being able to do UV mapping inside of Fusion would be killer.

So true - as a modeler Fusion is very intuitive and stable vs Maya nurbs modeling

Thanks to give update about enhanced UV mapping.
