Add option to "Save Linked copy as"

Add option to "Save Linked copy as"

Currently we can save a component to the data panel/project with "Save copy as". This is then an independent copy that has no connection to the originating design.

If we want to use tha copy linked to our current design but also wanto use it a a linked copy in other designs then we have to delete it from our curent design and re-insert it as a linked copy.

This sugestion would make it much easier to save re-usable components out from a current assembly while maintaining the link.

Would be great to have selection option to link an exported component vs just exporting it to the project folder.

Offer into the drop down menu: "Export" and then "Export and Link"

Saves time having to reimport the exported file into a massively complex scene.

The one I'm working on right now takes close to 8-10 mins to save, and a few mins to turn off/on component sets, etc, really slow lot in there. Trying to export all now and relink in so when I want to edit one feature on one thing, I'm not sitting there with the beach-ball for 20 mins.

Thanks,

Alldaron

@TrippyLighting, this is getting archived due to other work that is being done to improve our cross project workflows.  Once replace components, cross project insert, in place edit along with branch in merge are completed I believe we will have a solution to the root of the issue you are facing.

@promm would you have a rough estimat of when we could expect this or similar functionality to be implemented ?

Fusion grows quickly into a tool adopted to a variety of professional workflows such as evident in this thread that woud remendously benefit from this.

Yes !

I design components in context then save them out.  Then, when the saved component is due to be manufactured, it comes to pass that we tweak it slightly and of course the assembly in which it was designed is not updated.

I feel this is pretty much critical as well.
