add hand drawn stuff in Fusion Drawing module

add hand drawn stuff in Fusion Drawing module

I just worked on a design and needed to add more shapes like holes etc and realized this is not possible in Fusion Drawing.

This is simething we do a lot in Rhino. Yes it sounds odd adding details in drawings but sometimes this is also quicker than adding those in 3D. Specifically during the prototyping phase. In Rhino after the 2d drawings are created then you can move things

around add parts delete parts etc.

Obviously this collides with the idea of drawings being driven by the geometry but sometimes the linking is also a limitation.

So it would be a great addition in drawing to add shapes like from sketch and add dimensions as well.

I agree. Rhino work flow is really simple and I find Fusion to be extremely limiting. Adding and subracting after something is made doesn't seem possible in Fusion. But could this be a possibility in a future release?

I NEVER agree with this approach. Rarely is it actually quicker. However, what you are asking for is needed for other reasons. Creating reference line overlays to dimension from. So it's useful for dimensioning where in space your design is in relation to a reference grid of some sort.

But you got me excited with your title. I would actually love to see Sketchbook integrated into Fusion 360.

@scottmoyse with hand drawn I do Not mean sketchook or so but manually added CAD 2D stuff such as lines arcs etc to the drawing.

The ability to draw simple 2D primitives while in the drawing mode would also

allow the creation of a customized page border and title block.

(but then it would be even better if that could be saved as a template)

Also being able to draw a border around a particular view to highlight it

from the other views is useful.

I just would like to add a simple vertical line to thisI just would like to add a simple vertical line to thisI am a firm believer in if you want it on a 2d drawing it should be in your model for obvious reasons. Any design software I have used ended up with the ability to add basic 2d geometry in a drawing. Last night I wanted to add a line to the border to separate individual details then it occurred to me I CAN NOT. So my options are to measure the border and create a model of a line to add to my drawing. Then since I can not figure out how to put just a single model/part into my drawing without having to be in a modeling environment first I have to take the model of the line I have modeled and insert it into the original assembly save the assembly and update the drawing. After this is done I then have to create another view and turn off the display of everything but the LINE I modeled. Option number two is to do nothing.

This request seems pretty basic in the realm of this awesome software ultimately you need a drawing to manufacture parts. Even if the model is going to use the latest manufacturing processes which really do not require a 2d drawing. If one where to just look over a drawing say a detail of a plate with a ten holes in it you could simply define everything you need to detail this by a couple of views and approximately 25 or so dimensions. But if we take the drawing and delete the two views what is left? A bunch of 2D geometry that Fusion can not create in a simple efficient workflow if at all.
