Add ability to create alternative similar Autodesk Showcase

In Autodesk Showcase (or  Vred)  is possible to create alternatives for impact presentation

so that you can evaluate aesthetic and design alternatives in real time with peers, constituents, and customers.

alternatives:

material

visibiliti

posision

and mix it

and create a render Job to tenderize all alternative, or some of them.

for presentation purpose it would be highly advisable to allow designers in rendering but also in modeling space to save certain camera views

so we can always switch back to them for work and presentation.

This one is also already available, hover over Named Views tab in browser, clic RMB and choose New Named View, that wil save actual view. You can rename new view. After saving file this view will be prerender in cloud, as the rest of views.

that is not really doing it because it repositions the camera along the local z axis!

Your wrong, it record exact camera position, just don't record focal lenght. I'll poste a vid in a few minutes.

I hope you notice that the difference between the two images is that the not only distance between camera and cube but also posittion of the cube on the screen is different. And that renders the view tool useless when you have to reproduce the same views.

I think that we will get a camera "object" at some point of animation workspace development.

The problem is that the focal lenght can totally mess up the views.

in the render module is just changes the perspective while maintaining the camera distance look

when you do this in the 3d modeling space it is the same

however if you then add views the damera distance is also different rendering the previous views hardly usable.

so yes without adjusting the focal length the view command works. but as a creative I would need the focal length setting also with the view command

I do agree, I'm just trying to be kind and I've post a workaround. Maybe name new wiev with note what focal lenght is proper for that view. This method I'm making renderings everyday, and I can get back to project any time and render same frames.

Oh did I come across rude? If so, sorry that was really not my intent!

Nothing like that, I was justifying why I still argue, peace Smiley Wink

Ah I see - in text you can not really read emotions ;)Heart

«Oh did I come across rude? If so, sorry that was really not my intent!»

From the (semi-)impartial third party observer's perspective, I'd not say you did but uh..

«Your wrong, it record exact camera position»

I suggest Save new named views should be upgrade and become a new function - save scene

Which should include: view angle, components position, scene setting

additional: if can save different materials setting will be great!

Much of what you suggest can be done in animation storyboards.

Are you looking to render these? If so that is the one downside to animation environment, you cant render these yet.

What I'm suggesting is for rendering purpose.

For product design, I need to keep record of rendering settings(scene) then update details and render again. Sometime I need a consistent scene to do different design/product rendering shot(s).

In addition, I would like to have the function to export/share/save as the scene/setting as well!

I know this can be done by import other product to the same file for rendering, but can export/share/save as is better I think.

this is common sense for other rendering software (e.g. 3DSMAX, keyshot, etc)

What Fusion 360 does best is integrate modelling, drawing, animation, simulation and rendering in one package. However, the rendering work-space lacks a critical feature in my opinion; visual alternatives of the product you are designing. Currently Autodesk Showcase has this feature but it becomes time-consuming having to switch back and forth between applications.

It would be great to integrate this feature in Fusion 360 to give users the freedom to explore different colors, positions, materials, product part's visibility and packaging alternatives for the same product in Fusion 360. This would help prepare presentations faster.

Below are screenshots of this feature is Showcase.

Agreed - it'd be awesome to say «part A can be X, Y, or Z, and part B can be D or E» and with one click get renderings of all 6 combinations [or a reasonable subset]
