Mine showed up basically like uncooked spaghetti... and I'm pretty sure that is not what my manufacturer drew. Also, really wish I could just open it or even "create new design from file," but the weird "upload then open from the browser which launches the desktop application" is just plain bonkers...
I'm seeing the same issues as well. You can import the file and it seems fine, until you want to do ANYTHING to it, then realize its about as useful as a bag of sand in the sahara desert.
Fusion more and more seems like the program you add your fillets to, then export back to something competent. Hell, Blender is a more competent cad program right now.
I've been exploring this issue a bit more and found that if you import your dxf, re-export as a dxf, and then reimport that file, all the niceties of an actual sketch become available. It sucks, but it works.
Seems like Fusion can't open files (igs,step,dwg) where curves, circles, slots are present. surfaces works nice but not useful when using 2D features. Any info about progress?
So 2 years after the first questions in this thread, nothing has changed? I really can't understand how it is possible that softwares from the same company do not have any proper way to switch from one to an other...
I will not say that Adobe is perfect, but at least I can understand the logic behind the all suits of software, which I was never able to do with Autodesk...
Anyway, I think I will look for something else to have my CAD files becoming CAM...
import a DXF onto a sketch and then not be able to snap to anything on that sketch from the DXF?? what kind of software developer wants to create so much anger?
Yeah I have spent hours trying to turn dxf files into sketches, I even had to import a vector as a pdf and spline the entire photo just to get my sketch. This is a huge issue. Any updates?
As we prepare to update our sketch roadmap I wanted to provide an update on this specific request as some of these items have been addressed/improved an others remain. We have put effort into DXF, but recognize there are additional efforts required for both DWG and DXF support. This is on our roadmap and is being reviewed for possible near term work/improvement. As that gets closer we will share more about the specific items we are working to address and ask for additional input.
That is great news. The software is getting better and stronger. It might be on the way to become the best available for interactive 3DP product creation.
I would like Fusion to be able to import large DWG/ DXF files, currently even small files prove to be problematic and take long to import. I hope this will also be taken into consideration.
