Hi everyone,
It's my pleasure to introduce the new improvement to 3D Adaptive, Reduce Air Cutting for 3D Adaptive Clearing. This
change is a public preview feature within Fusion 360's manufacturing workspace.
This change has been made to reduce cycle times and create more autonomy in the programming process .
Attached is a short video detailing the benefits of this new implementation.
We encourage honest feedback.
Thanks!
Honestly, based on the video, I can't imagine ever needing it. Why would I want to re-machine the portion below the remaining material from the previous operation? The simplest solution would be to adjust the z depth to prevent re-machining.
Because the portion below the remaining stock still has remaining stock? Do you ship unfinished parts?
@FrodoLoggins Thank you for your salty reply. I re-watched the video, I see the value now, however, prior to this change wouldn't it have worked by creating two operations and adjusting the depth of the first where the stock profile is being removed?
I have enabled this feature, however I can't find it in the dialog box. Is this something that runs in the background?
If you checked off "Reduce Air Cutting for 3D Adaptive Clearing" in Preferences > Preview Features, then it's enabled. Nothing else you need to do.
This feature comes in handy usually on the second setup after milling the first side, it doesn't speed up every roughing operation.
