Excel Driven Parameters

Excel Driven Parameters

Fusion is great in so many ways. The way it allows you to set up a parameter driven model is fantastic. However, its offers zero solutions for driving your parameters other than manually typing them in. Just give us functionality to import parameters from excel! People have been practically begging since the inception of Fusion 360. You've built a sports car with no steering wheel. Ad-ins like parameter i/o are just not viable for anything more complicated than a coffee table. I need to have a table that sorts parameters by part number. I should be able to select my part number from a drop down in fusion and have my model update with 1 click. I should be able to control which parameters get adjusted first. For example, if you force me to update my o/a dimensions before my hole placement, i will have extrusion errors all over the place.

This idea is something that I myself would find extremely useful. I think of how this is implemented in other software such as SolidWorks. I have used SolidWorks and the way it handles linked excel files is great for altering designs for design use cases.

Also, this would be of benefit to the creation of parts that follow a design philosophy but change only in parameters (for example screws).

If this idea was implemented there would be a vast range of possibilities to how fusion could be used in the future. This idea in my opinion is needed in fusion360.

In addition to the excel functionality, the ability to use conditional statements directly in the model parameters would be a huge game-changer. If, then, else would increase the functional capabilities of parameter-driven models exponentially.

The same holds true for excel managed "parts family" style tables.

This is actually the Idea Station for Fusion Lifecycle (our Product Lifecycle Management solution), not for Fusion 360.  Their feeback forum is: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-feedback-hub/bd-p/6069

I'll check with an administrator about getting this thread moved there.  Thanks for taking the time to share your idea!
