PCB outline (contour) drawn on the milling layer

Hello there,

I have converted an Eagle project into fusion 360 electronics and the board outline is on the Milling layer.

I would like to know if there is a way to miror it on the Dimension layer. The 3D view just show the components without the PCB.

I have to modify the size of the PCB

What is the way to have the PCB on the 3D?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I hope you're doing well. The board outline should be on the Dimension layer not milling. Milling is really only meant to be used for slots or special cutouts on the board. Select the entire outline and move it to the Dimension layer.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for your reply. That's what I am doing now but it is not working. I can copy the outline but when I past it on the Dimension layer it buffers and disappears.

Is there any other way to do it?

Many thanks

Don't copy/paste. Change the layer in the object properties

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your input. When I change the layer in the object properties I got this error message.

"Property Change Failed"

Many thanks

Hi Steve,

Since it is a company file I can't attach it here. I can send it to you by e-mail.

Please could you provide me with your e-mail.

Many Thanks

I figured out the problem...

When moving the lines to the dimension layer, the DRC rules are saying no, no, no. I won't include any of your design in the screen captures but the BATMEASURE vias are violating the keep-out space of the board outline. Turn on "ignore violators in the walk-around settings and you can change the layer of the objects. I don't know how that plays into your overall design but that is why you were receiving the property change failed message. I'm assuming this is because Fusion handles the milling layer differently than the dimension layer in terms of the DRC checker.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your help. I will do it that way since it won't really affect the overall design.

Many thanks
