Sheet metal flat pattern not using selected face

Two of the components in my sheet metal file are just circular disks.  When I try to use flat pattern on either of them it shows the edge view.  I thought maybe it was just showing the wrong view, so I exported the flat pattern as a dxf and opened it in another file.  The dxf is the rectangular edge view of the disk.  I know the dxf is just a circle and I can make another sketch to get a dxf from it, but it appears to be a bug to me.

Can you File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here?

Of course I could take the time to generate my own file to verify the behavior and suggest possible solutions, but since you already have it done....

Hi, I have had the same issue on several sheet metal pieces, it seems to happen randomly, but mostly on disc-type objects. My f3d file is attached, both sheet metal pieces have this problem when I flat pattern them.

Hi @logicstreetscene@schmittre,

Thanks for your post and connivance you facing while doing flat pattern.

Yes, Also observe this issue with newly created same type of object. So for analysis purpose, I have reported (FUS-39489)

and will ask dev to analyse.

If you found some more parts then please attached, so we will look into it.

Thanks,

Sagar

Hi, I ended up doing a separate post in Support with more info:  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/try-to-flat-pattern-a-flat-object-with-curved-edge...

It seems the problem occurred because there was no straight lines. The issue was solved by making a 0.1mm line section of one of the curves in the sketch. I then selected the face I wanted to see in flat pattern, and it worked.

Or, you can rotate the _body_ of your sheet metal component so it faces front of component.

No need to mess with the body shape.
