Separating Components for assembly

Hello,

I want to design 2 clamps for a pipe and later in the design process I realized it would be better to have  the clamp as a single component. Because when I want to assemble 2 clamps around the pipe, the pipe always gets imported twice in my new assembly file.
Also saving just the "clamp" component strangely results in sketch entities getting out of place:

Do you have an idea how to solve my problem?
I attached the design to look at.

Thank you in advance 🙂

I assume that you are using Save Copy as to create an independent copy of the clamp.  That is really the only approach today.  The root cause of the problems is the way that you built the clamp in the original design.  What Save Copy As tries to do is:  select all the features that are owned by that component, extract them, and write them out to a new design.  This works great in the case of a component whose features are all free of other components.  In  your case, however, the clamp's initial sketch and extrude were created in the root component, and only later made into a component:

This causes Save Copy As to try to re-create this component with a more complex recipe.  And, sometimes that goes wrong, as in this case.

Fortunately, in this case, it can be relatively easily repaired.  First the sketch.  Take a look a the sketch in the original:

and move those two sets of circles to the right area, and add those dimensions.  I'm not sure why they are missing, but pretty easy to re-add them.

Second, the offset faces failed.  Again, not really sure why, but easy enough to fix.  Edit the feature in the original, find the faces and the offset:

And, reproduce that by editing the failing feature in the exported design.  I've attached a fixed up version for you.

Ok thank you very much.
I rebuilt the whole design but this time with the pipe as a separate and linked component.
