Robot Assembly performance using VEX Robotics STEP files.

Hi there,

I'm doing a project using parts from VEXROBOTICS.COM (I'll attach a STEP sample below) and I'm now proceeding with an assembly. With over 75+ parts, the process to add an additional part or the process of copy pasting a part or even selecting a plane for aligning and constraining gets really choppy and frequently freezes. I normally wait around 5-10s to unfreeze the screen. Observing at some of their parts, they contain A LOT of nodes due to countless of fillets and squared holes. Whenever I move, select, or align anything, I believe Fusion collects all those nodes from that part and moves it, increasing the time needed to do the task. My question is, how can I improve the performance in terms of assembling speed?

Also, say I want to align a screw to one of the squared holes. How can I select the center of the squared hole? As shown in the 2nd image, I'm not getting any point or arrow in the center. 😞

 Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting and sharing your file Smiley Happy

I understand that you have 2 issues.

1. performance issue.

I'm sharing an article to improve your performance.

How to optimize setting for performance

2. How can I select the center of the squared hole?

In this case, there would be a lot of ways…

I’m not sure why you want to use the "Align" we will be able to use “Move” I think it would be much easier.

At first, I’m going to share my idea though Screencast.

How to set the center of point on the rectangular

if you think it’s not or you need more, please let me know. I’ll be glad to help you.Smiley Happy

Many thanks!

Hi there, @ahreum.ryu!

Thanks for your big help! I managed to do exactly what is shown in the screencast and worked like a charm. It can't be more detailed than now.

I already had my performance optimized how the article said. Maybe I'm hoping too much for a smoother process?

Anyways, thank you for your awesome help, Ahreum Ryu!
