Plane along path

Hello Everybody,

When creating a Plane Along path, the preview looks OK but when created the plane rotates.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks for looking at this.

Hey Ludo,

Not that I know of. I assume you want to keep the orientation for orthogonal dimensioning purposes?

Hello Mike,

Exactly, when I make a sketch on that plane, it is, off course, in the same orientation, making it more difficult to keep the sketch orthogonal to this path. The preview just seems more like what I expect.

Thanks for looking into this!

Best regards,

Ludo

Hi Ludo,

Thanks for reporting this.

I believe the path you are selecting is 3D. Because apparently it happens only when the path is 3D.

Also, this is only limited to Parametric environment. It will not happen in Direct modeling environment.

Nonetheless, this is indeed an issue. The preview and the result must match.

We will fix this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Nope. This issue is currently massively bugging me since the preview is orthogonally perfect but once I commit the creation of the plane, it pops to a different orientation.

Hello All,

The problem I've been struggling with is the issue of the sketch rotating when executing the sweep. Has anyone seen this?
Using a sketch other than a circle (a rectangle for example) when using the sweep command the sketch rotates around the path. Very strange!
No matter how many adjustments I try, I cannot reach a result where the sketch remains unchanged.

I will try to attach an image of the results I arrived at.

Take a look at the video I think will solve your issue.  If it does, please do not forget to select "Accept Solution" for my post even if this Forum post already has one Accept Solution it can have another.  Ask further question, directly to me, not the original poster since you hijacked a very old post, if you need to.
