Pattern on Path - Holes not aligned with path

I am following a tutorial and cannot figure out why my pattern is not following the path as it should.

OS: Monterey 12.6.1

I think it has to do with the fact that the path start does not correspond with the first instance in the pattern.  Theoretically, you should be able to move the start using the "start" input, but I know people struggle with getting that to work.  Instead, I would try splitting or trimming the path curve so that the start corresponds to your first hole, and see if that helps.

You can either move the starting point or (which is easier and more accurate) trim the path so that the feature is exactly at the startpoint.
