Parametric Sequence for Circular Pattern

Hello,

 

I would like to make a parametric design of an arbitrary number of circles in a circular pattern. I would like to create a function so that every subsequent circle is a little smaller than the previous. I would like to control this using two parameters: a maximum and a minimum radius.

 

Would anyone know an easy way to do this? I am hoping to make a parametric tolerance test for my 3D printer as practise learning Fusion 360.

Hello , 

I have tried this out . Actually First I pattern the circle in circular pattern and then after delete the pattern symbol so I can give different dimensions to each circle .

EXAMPLE - I took a circle of 10 cm and then pattern it , So I have 10 in total  ,and and at last I want a circle of radius 1cm . so i subtract each circle by 1 by 1 . like for 1st circle 10-1 , for 2nd 10-2 . And goes on . So for your design , you have to calculate yours .

That would not be parametric though 😉

@Anonymous check out the attached .f3d file and pay attention to the user parameters and how I used these are formulae in the dimensions of the sketch and the circular pattern.

Play with the user parameters.

Thanks for the example but I think that's the answer to a different question. Each subsequent circle in the circular pattern needs to be a little smaller than the one before it.

Aha. I misunderstood you post. That cannot be done parametrically with the "regular" tools in Fusion 360.

This would lily require the use of the API.

Here's how I would create a semi parametric 3d printer calibration object:

This will test both male and female holes.  If you print two of them, they should fit together with no visible gaps.

Have you done this?

 

Even with precision machining a "perfect" Ø45 pin will not go into a "perfect" Ø45 hole without an arbor press to press fit the two together.  And your going to test with 9 pins?

 

Tomorrow I will present a thought experiment on the logic.

 The initial prints should be to determine how to print the specified size of male and female cylinders. Once that is done, the tolerances need to be tweaked to get the perfect fit.  Tolerances are trivial to add to the parameters. 

 

Once that is done, it will need to be repeated for each new filament spool Smiley Happy
