New Export dialog:-(

The new export dialog doesn't work as well as the old one. With the old dialog you had a folder view and could see the folder contents now you have no clue about file names in the folder you want to save into. I know you've changed it so yo can export to the cloud as well but again that doesn't work for the same reason, you have no idea what's in the project\folder you're saving to. It like going back to the good old days of DOS!

Hi Mark,

Did you try click the button as below to show the folder list, which could show the folder panel?  Currently it requires to click the small dropdown button which could be improved, it would be better to show it when click the entire row (that with the small button) like a common combo box for selection.

That doesn't work it only show the folder names it doesn't show any of the files in the folders.

Edit My answer is to both selections above.

Edit again looks like it works on the cloud, never need that though.

I didn't notice it's for export to local disk. I checked the implementations, the new export dialog (Save to my computer) is using an option that "show directories only", so the files in folder are hidden on windows Fusion build.

But the Mac Fusion build has better behavior, the files show up and in disabled mode as below. I sent email to related team members, we could check whether we could improve this.

Hi Lori

Thank you for looking into this, it's something that needs improving. Yesterday I tried to export a file and it took 3 goes before I got what I wanted, the fist saved to the cloud because I didn't spot Save to cloud was selected the second saved as iges because it defaults back and there's no feed back any more, the 3rd saved to stp and to my computer but it very frustrating not having the normal save dialog so you can't tell what file type you're saving and what files are in the directory you're saving to.

Also I think there a bug on the new export dialog, you can have save to cloud and save to my computer selected at the same time, with both selected it only saves to my computer.

Very good details, Mark! I tried to reproduce the bug you mentioned, I could export to both cloud and local for iges file format, but export as f3d file doesn't work to cloud. I will add this issue to our internal defect tracking system.

About the workflows, I agree it's easier to export iges file, let me check with related UX to see how we might improve this. Might remember the last used setting (file format), or have better prompt message, etc. Great to have you help us improve Fusion 360!

Hi Lori

We really need the save version of this dialog back, it just makes the export process so much easier, maybe have a button on the export dialog "Save local" that brings the old save dialog up. I don't know why save to cloud was added to the export option I can't see a use for it. An option to remember the last file type would be a great help though.

I noticed this has been looked at and got a fix. Now when you select the folder icon you get the Save As dialog rather then just the pick folder dialog. Once you're through to the Save As dialog you can change the file type and see all files in the directory give you the old functionally back, an extra click but that's OK.
