Multiple edge selection wont work

Hi all,

i have a problem with the multiple edge selection per window, which simply wont do the trick for me. When activated, the programm only recognises the edges, but i cannot select all the edges on the surface of the model. As you can see in my picture, I want to select all edges at once, in order to use the piping tool and create a specific lattice as a solid body from a generated mesh, but right now i have to click on every **** edge with STRG. I thought the window mode+only select edges would work for me but apparently it does absolutley nothing....and i don't want to select every edge of the surface manually.

I have already checked the filter boxes  ..even T-edges..but nothing works

Any help ?

@Anonymous - this was done several years ago in the interest of performance.  On larger models, window select was very slow, because of the number of items being selected.  So, Fusion now only allows Face selection in the default Select command for window selection.  If you are in a command which allows Edge selection, such as Fillet, you can use window select, just not in the default Select command.  What do you need to mass select edges for without being in a command?

Hello Jeff,

thanks for your reply. I basically wanted to recreate something I have seen in a video by another user. I wanted to create a mesh on top of an object and create a lattice pattern with pipes on the surface. This is the part where I need to select multiple edges at once. Otherwise I would have to select thousands of edges and this is very time consuming. So I thought I could also use the multiple edge selct but this isn't working anymore. Is there a way of creating something like this in another way ?

Thanks for the video.  I had forgotten that the Edge Priority setting would allow edges to be window selected, so I tried it out.  It does seem to work for me.  See the screencast below.  BTW, all that Edge Priority really does is to set the selection filter to only edges.

Hello Jeff,

I did the exact same as shown in your video. It just won't work and I don't know why. When "Only edges" is selected in the filter I can only select edges on an object, so that works as intended, but the window selection isn't working (it just selects nothing then)

Maybe this is some setting problem?

Hello Jeff,

I have found the solution, which seems like a bug to me. It simply won't work in my german version. I switched the language to english and suddenly it works as intended. I then switched back to German, restarted etc. and it won't work again. I'am using the english version right now so I can do my stuff now^^

I don't know in which way this is related to the language in the preferences, but to me this seems like a bug. Hope this can be useful for you .^^
