Jewel Design Moonstone Model, Lofting issues

Dear Forum members,

I'm having no luck with modeling a jewel-Moonstone for which I would like to design a setting for 3D Printing. I thought it would be an easy process with lofting, but no luck so far. I attached the file and a picture of the issues. What would be the best way to model a stone like this?

You need to do the Loft in two sections.  I will let the Screencast explain the process.  Model is attached.

Forget these splines and lofting.

You are already working with T-Splines. Just model!

Also, offsetting a spline almost always results in a completely broken curvature and as such is best avoided.

Here's a beginning. THe top is mostly done. Can you model the bottom into shape?

Thank you very much!  -I'll try both approaches when I find the time and give feedback here.

Thanks for your help, on the long run direct modelling would be better, but for now I'm happy with lofting in two sections.
