Insert Into Current Design is NOT Working

I'm trying to insert a design into an active design and it will not allow me to. I have done it in the past but it seems very temperamental.

I would select the drop down and nothing would happen. In the past, the file would appear in the active design with directional arrows.

Is there an error message in the lower right corner? What is the status of the design being inserted?

Can you insert it into another design?

Hello I am having the same issue. I follow the instructions to "Insert into current design" And it is unresponsive. In fact it seems everything from the dropdown menu is unresponsive. For example I right click on a part and select open. Nothing happens. Drop down menu disappears and the function has no effect. Is this broken with the latest update by chance?

In general no its not broken. Its likely that there is an issue with one of the following:

  • File being inserted
  • Target file
  • Dialog boxes offscreen/broken.

Hi Thanks for getting back.

So an update. What I’m doing is I have a collection of parts I’m trying to
bring into one scene.

I closed fusion and reopened my assembly scene. I then tried to import a
part into current scene and it worked. So excitedly I moved to my next part
to import and now we’re back to fusion not responding to Insert into
current design.

Seems strange for it to work For the first part but then not work for a
second or third part.

Okay update to my issue.

All day I struggled with Insert Into Current Design and I got nothing to work. But when I got to my home PC everything worked fine and was able to get the parts into my assembly.

To summarize for me then

In my new gen macbook pro the Insert Into Current Design does not work. Infact ALL functions in the drop down menu within the folder column does not work correctly or buggy at best.

The windows machine does work as expected and was able to finally get everything together.

Apple was the issue in my case.

What I found out is the drop down works on a MacBook if you ‘tap’ the trackpad while holding the control button. The drop down selections will not work if you press and hold down the track pad.

I've not had any issues with this on my new gen mac. What install do you have? MAS or via your Autodesk Account? Are you on Mojave?

I still have the exact same issue (not able to select "insert in current design'). The suggestion to 'tap' or 'not tap' trackpad while holding the CTR .. it works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't work. Now, not working. The are not error message.

Can you make a screencast ?

I've used Fusion 360 for almost 6 year almost exclusively on MacOS and I work with Fusion 360 every day. I currently use a high spec. 2017 MacBook Pro and before that I used a mid 2010 iMac.  I have never experienced any of this, neither on this machine o on the iMAc.
