I'm struggling to model an organic shape for a sculpture render
The shape of the sculpture can be seen below, but its essentially two sheets of shaped metal in a rough double helix. Each shape is roughly a triangle curved into a wave or leaf shape, then wrapped into the helix with some punched out bird shapes.
I've tried creating a coil and using those surfaces, but I can't get an organic shape once its wrapped.
I've tried creating sheet metal and wrapping it but I can wrap into a spiral. I thought this one would be good for the punched out bird shapes.
I've been trying recently to create a coil on a taper, create a t-spline face on the inside face of the coil, then shape that into the appropriate organic spiral, but then I can't cut the bird shapes out.
Any ideas? I'm starting to lose my ****.
