Extending/Extruding Part of a Body

I'm trying to figure out how to extend part of a body (using a surface) along a specific axis. In the image below, I have created a gap between the two bodies and I'd like to extend the left body to the right body. I've looked at several topics/videos related to this but none of them seem to work for this situation.

There is an easier way, 

Instead of surface you can do it in the solid modelling quicker, 

Go back to the beginning, create a splitting plane to cut the square tube section (between the fillet and the donut on the lower leg, 

Split body there, make the move, then extrude join the mating faces.
