Hi
I am trying to combine these bodies into one piece, but four of the rings refuse to join the main body.
I have the feeling there is a gap causing the problem but I carn't seem to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated. As always.
Regards
Ian
Solved! Go to Solution.
Most of the time these problems are a result of lacking modeling precision and I can see that already in the first 4 steps in your timeline. You clearly desire a fully circular fillet, but the circles in the sketch re not properly constrained and are not tangent to one of the lines.
That results in a flat face and you remedy this by deleting the flat face and let Fusion 360 figure out how to mere the geometry into a resulting circular fillet. I have not gone fully through your timeline, but it looks to me you've used an extraordinary amount of sketches and I would not be surprised to see more of these modeling practices further on in the design. You might find, once you fix all these little things that accumulate tooth's problem, the problem goes away on its own.
Hi
Thank you for the reply.
I find it hard to start out correct with some projects I will admit. This one was touch and go from the start as I had no idea how to create the piece when I started. It was after a few goes that I got the shape and design I was after. But it came with messy work flow I acknowledge.
Its a leg section for a B9 lost in space robot life size prop. The intent is to later section it and print large pieces on a 3d printer.
Your suggestion of deleting faces is what I do alot as this tends to remove the gaps and fusion fills them up accordingly. I had another look at this with the legs but I seem to not be able to acheive the result. Any deleting of faces seems to remove the ring or the whole combined body itself.
The Ring5 that is made up of 4 rolls still wont join. Its probably harder considering the top ring that is joined to the body is in the way.
Any help would be great as I still carn't see how to fix it.

What can I say, your timeline plays for 5 minutes. Your geometry does not contain enough accuracy, as Pete mentioned, a lot has been redrawn, I admit not starting from scratch helps.
I have a replacement model in the last component, so with the benefit of being able to project most of your finished product, started over, checking the sketches you will see purple from your model, and the rest is redrawn. I ended up starting to run out of time, with some messy steps myself, but you should get to see how it could be tackled.
Might help...
Hi
You never cease to amaze me with your correction of my work.
You seem to have created not only a clean result but a better result.
Thank you. It works perfectly. One day I will get this clear on how to work properly with fusion.
Kind Regards
Ian
