Create time line group missing.

I've noticed sometimes the option to create a group in the timeline is missing and can't figure out why. In the screencast below I've imported an ejector pin, made copies and I can group the first set, then I imported another ejector pin, made copies but can't create a similar group for some reason.

Thanks Mark

Thanks for posting. This is one where we need the model.

Can you reproduce it in a simple model that is easy to share?

Thanks,

Seeing the same issue... some timeline elements randomly can't be part of the group... if I deselect a certain action, "Create Group" is visible in the popup menu... otherwise, no. Very frustrating.

The one case that we've discovered where this can happen is if a feature thinks it is already a member of a group.  The way that this bug can happen is if a feature was once added to a group, then all the other members of the group deleted.  In that case (a group of size 1), the UI says "this is not a valid group so I won't display it", but the code apparently forgets one critical step:  It forgets to let the feature know that its group no longer exists.  So, when the UI asks "are you already a member of a group?", that feature answers "yes", so is no longer eligible to be added to a group.  If it is selected with other features which are not in a group, the "Create Group" menu item will be suppressed.  This is being tracked internally as FUS-33046.

So, that is one scenario that we know of that can cause this problem.  @Anonymous, and @HughesTooling, could this explain your situation?  If not, there may well be another scenario where this bug can occur.  As @Phil.E says, with the model, we might be able to find another cause.

@jeff_strater i think this pretty much describes my case.

I do another thing frequently due to the fact that you can't expand groups without deleting them and that is roll history marker to one item before last, create new item, then move last item in the group before it. It's pretty annoying, but not as much as FUS-33046. Is this scheduled to be addressed soon?  This happens to me all the time... my timeline is all busted up now because I can't properly re-group things.
