Complex off road tire thread patterns

Hi Everyone.

As I am getting more and more confident with Fusion, I'm taking one more complex tasks, one of which is to design off road threaded tires.

My problem is flexibility. I'll take a very cleary example and I'll highlight what causes me trouble in the right approach to achieve it.

1- the extrusion is coming of the center of the tire, while I can taper an extrusion it feels like there should be a better way.

2- the complex mix of patterns there are two types of lugs and they alternate one another. I am failing to find a suitable way to do this.

3- when extruding the pattern into the tire base structure, it goes through it, how can I extrude a sketch to stop at the surface and not go through?

I guess I am looking for ruff directions to explore. Going for individual components which than are regrouped, or some nice design patterns function I am missing out, etc 🙂

 Bye,

 Jean

Hi Jean, below you have a screencast with basic approach (there are some missed clicks, but should it illustrate "how to"):

Hi,

Thanks for this! I definitly learn few tricks 🙂

I am already pretty much where you are at, but I did not used many of your tricks indeed 🙂 now that I know them, I'll use them. It's a slightly different thread with no real care with dimensions as I am still fiddling with the design process by itself. I'll correct them over the week end and share back my progress 🙂

I'll carry on experimenting with the side bits and alternatives designs.

Bye,
