Blend Radius Error when Offsetting face

Hi

I need to create a new surface from a face of a STEP-model that I imported, using Modify --> Offset Face
When I try to do this, I get this error

"Unable to construct the blend radius function for the variable radius blends in input model"
Please see attachment.

How can I move on to get the surface I need?

Thanks, Thomas

what are you trying to do here?  Offset Faces will try to offset the selected face, and this error (though admittedly incomprehensible) is telling you that the faces next to the selected face looks like fillet (blend) faces, and it is trying to deal with them as fillet faces.  Do you want to make the entire model bigger, or really just offset that single face?  What is the output that you want?

Also, can you shared the F3D or STEP model here?  Thanks.

Hi

Sorry, I thought I was creating a new surface with a small offset based on the selected face. When googling how to do that, this is what I came up with. In Practice I am trying to create a new surface just like the face selected. I actually wanted the whole outer face of the model copied into a new surface with a small gap, but having selected all the faces of the model generated the same error.

So, in short, what I want to do, is to create a new surface which will mate with the existing top face of the model, with a gap of say 0,3mm

Thank you Jeff! 🙂

Your response actually helped me get what I wanted. I realized I was in the wrong meny, Solid Modify. The function I needed was in Surface Create, and then it work just as I wanted. So all good now. Thanks! 😄
