Annyoing cursor effect

Hi there,

It seems to me Fusion 360 has great potentiel, so I decided to give it a try.

I understand the effort invested to make the user interface as simple as possible, yet the simplification might be risky.

For the moment, I am just terribly annoyed by the mouse-to-coursor lag effect. As I am used to design pretty quickly in other software, I alredy feel the lack of customizble hotkey. Hope this will come in a later release. However the cursor lag is killing me. Does anyone know how to remove it ?

Thanks,

Lucian

Can you describe the lag behavior in better detail? Is it with a new design or only with complicated designs?

I don't believe I experience this while using Fusion 360.

Which OS are you running on? What do the machine specifications look like? Is the video card new? Is the graphics driver updated?

Have you tried "limiting effects..." to see if this improves the behavoir? To do this:

First go to the Graphics Diagnostics:

Then check the Limit Effects..." option:

Limit all effect to provide optimum performance.PNG

I hope that suggestions helps.

Thanks,

Thanks for the quick answer Nathan,

Indeed, limiting all effects solves the issue. However, I do not know what other effects I am limiting in the same time, but at least I am not annoyed that much anymore by this cursor-to-crosshair effects.

While I am at it, allow me ask you some more questions:

1. In sketches, is there any way to easily toggle on/off constrain view, or having them of another color ? In complicated sketches, it gets verry verry verry confusing

2. sketch dimensions have exatcly the same color and line width as sketch lines ... it adds even more to the confusion; any way to chnage that ?

3. on the product website, a versioning control is mentioned, with possibilities of branching, merging, etc.; nowhere I can find that...

All in all, I would like to give you a feedback about Fusion 360, if I may:

It seems to a be promising product, and your team seems to be active and motivated to do its best. Yet it still seems to me, that at the current stage, fusion 360 is more a product for fast prototyping and collaboration between designers and engineers, rather than something designed for very complicated mechanical designs (it gets exponentially confusing with the complexity)

Best,

Lucian

Lucian,

The behavior you're describing sounds like you may have the snap to grid option enabled in sketching or the incremental move option enabled.

incremental move and snap to grid.png

By design, these options can make your cursor motion feel "choppy" in certain commands. You can disable them to see if they change the behavior of the cursor to your liking.

Disabling effects helps to reduce the overhead of the superficial graphics enhancements in Fusion 360. Limiting these effects will help to improve performance on the machine at the cost of visual fidelity.

To get to your questions....

Currently, the ability to toggle visibility of sketch constraints is not possible. However, you may vote up the below Ideastation request to provide feedback to the product management team that you're interested in this feature.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation-request-a/ui-constraint-visibility-control/idi-...

I note that the idea has an accepted status, which means it is currently in the backlog to be developed and released.

The dimension color is not customizable either; however, you may consider creating an Ideastation request for this feature enhancement. I note that this effort may be merged with the below Idea. You may consider adding some comments to that request or creating a new one specifically for dimensions.

The roadmap highlights the time frame for Merging and Branching, which is not yet implemented. The link for the roadmap is below.

In our latest release, we updated the backbone of Fusion 360 to get read for these changes. Check out this blog post for more detail.

This link will also highlight the coming changes.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other quesitons.

Thanks,
